George Mason Patriots Betting Preview
It’s been a very nice year for the Patriots so far, as they’ve got just one blemish on the schedule. George Mason cruised through their first nine games with a string of wins, then took their only loss of the season to Virginia Tech on December 6. The Patriots bounced back from that defeat with wins in the next nine games, concluding with Monday’s matchup. That gives the Pats an 18-1 overall run thus far.
In this week’s game versus George Washington, the Patriots came out of the locker room looking up at a 38-30 advantage on the scoreboard. George Mason was outscored 34-31 the rest of the way but still managed to hang on for the victory 69-64 in the end. tops in scoring was Riley Allenspach with 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Masai Troutman added 14 points and three assists as well.
Rhode Island Rams Betting Preview
Over on the Rams’ side, they managed a solid 7-2 start with losses to only Tulsa and Towson. A 3-6 stretch ensued over the next nine games, though. Those losses came courtesy of Providence, McNeese, Loyola Chicago, George Mason, La Salle and VCU. The wins otherwise were over Canisius, Northeastern and Davidson, giving Rhode Island a 10-8 record in their first 18 games.
On Wednesday in the Richmond game the Rams were all tied up at halftime 33-33. Rhode Island managed to hit a 36-35 run the rest of the way, leading to the team escaping on a 69-68 road win in the end. Tyler Cochran led the team with his 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while Keeyan Itejere had 10 points with eight boards. Jahmere Tripp added 10 points and three rebounds as well.

George Mason vs Rhode Island Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Rhode Island here. The Rams pulled off a tight road win over a pretty decent Richmond team in their last outing. Rhode Island shot a tepid 41.1 percent from the field and just 15 percent (3-of-20) from outside along with 13 turnovers in that one though, so there’s plenty to clean up. That gives the Rams a 2-1 run over the last three, but they’ve also lost four of the last six overall.
These teams last saw each other back on January 3 in a 61-50 road loss for the Rams. Rhode Island shot pretty poorly (35.2 percent) in that one and only got to the line nine times (making just three) to the Patriots’ 15-of-26 effort (57.7 percent). The Rams also got outscored by six in the paint and had 12 turnovers. There’s plenty to clean up for the home rematch, but if Rhode Island can get that shooting percentage up (and get way better at the line) I think they’ve got a good shot.
