Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview
The Seminoles opened the year on a nice run but they’ve lost their last couple of games. Florida State went 5-1 in their first half-dozen outings, losing to only Florida amid wins over Alcorn State, Alabama State, Tennessee-Martin, Georgia Southern and Cal State Bakersfield in that time. Since then however, the Seminoles have lost to Texas A&M and Georgia in consecutive games. That gives FSU a 5-3 overall record though their first eight outings.
In the Georgia game on Tuesday, the Seminoles were down 49-30 by halftime. Florida State ended up losing that one 107-73. Leading the team in scoring was Robert McCray with 18 points, five rebounds and one assist. Chauncey Wiggins addled 15 points and two boards as the only other team player to make double-figures in the defeat. Kobe MaGee chipped in eight points with two steals in the loss as well.
Houston Cougars Betting Preview
Over on the Houston side, they’ve got just one blemish on the schedule so far. The Cougars hit a nice win streak over their first half-dozen games though, taking out Lehigh, Towson, Oakland, Auburn, Rider and Syracuse in succession. On November 25 Houston took their first loss to a good Tennessee team, but bounced back in the next game with a victory over Notre Dame. Over eight outings so far that gives Houston a 7-1 overall record.
In the Notre Dame game last Wednesday, the Cougars were up 39-25 going into the second half. Houston would hang on and win 66-56 in the end. Emanuel Sharp topped the scorers with 17 points and five boards with three assists, and Milos Uzan had 15 points with five rebounds and three assists. Joseph Tugler added 10 points and eight rebounds in the win as well.

Florida State vs Houston Prediction
I’ll probably stick with Houston here, but you could call it either way. The Cougars had a pretty rough offensive game in their win over Notre Dame, notching just 34 percent from the field. Houston owned the boards with a 44-34 advantage though, and the team was competitive in the paint. The low five-turnover total was helpful as well. The Cougars have scored lower only one time this year though (65 versus Towson in game two); they’ll likely have to surpass that 70-point mark in order to be competitive in this one.
As for Florida State, they shot just 39 percent from the field and 50 percent (9-of-18) from the line against Georgia while allowing 57 percent on the other side. The Seminoles were also outfoxed in rebounding 48-27 and in the paint 56-38. It wasn’t a pretty game, but Georgia is a great team. Things aren’t going to get any easier here, but Florida State has the capability to hang around if all goes well. They’ve got to get that shooting percentage up, though.
