Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles opened up the season on a sketchy 1-2 run. Following a win over New College FL, FGCU fell versus Illinois and Georgia Southern. The next four outings were all wins though, versus Chattanooga, Samford, Oral Roberts and Rice. Florida Gulf Coast fell to Kennesaw State in their most recent game however, giving the team a 5-3 record across their first eight games of the season.
In the Kennesaw State matchup last Wednesday, the Eagles came out of the break with a one-point deficit. Florida Gulf Coast was able to force overtime but eventually lost a tough one 102-100 in the end. Leading the scoring with a whopping 42 points, four rebounds and two assists was Jordan Ellerbee. JR Konieczny added 28 points with eight boards and Rahmir Barno had 14 points with eight assists and two rebounds.
Florida International Panthers Betting Preview
Over on the Florida International side, they’ve had a shaky run over their first half-dozen outings of the season. The Panthers beat Florida National in their opener, then fell versus Nebraska and LSU. Since then it’s been a 2-1 run with a loss to James Madison in between wins versus Fort Lauderdale and Omaha. That makes a 3-3 run for a .500 record over the first six games of the year.
Last Wednesday in the Omaha game, the Panthers were up 38-31 going into the second half. Florida International hit a 36-30 run the rest of the way and won the game 74-61 in the end. Brit Harris topped the scoring on 24 points with two rebounds, and Corey Stephenson added 15 points with nine rebounds and three assists. Julian Mackey chipped in with 12 points and two rebounds in the win as well.

Florida Gulf Coast vs Florida International Prediction
I’ll stick with Florida Gulf Coast. I could go either way here, though. The Eagles pushed a decent Kennesaw State team to the limit in their last outing, eventually shooting 44.9 percent from the field with 40 percent (10-of-25) from outside. FGCU was out-rebounded 39-30 however, and outscored 46-34 on points in the paint. Still, it was the Eagles’ first loss in a five-game span, and they’ve put up 77 or more points in each of the last six outings.
As for Florida International, they shot a tepid 40.6 percent from the field and just 11-of-22 from the lien alongside a 37-31 rebounding deficit in their latest win over Omaha. The Mavericks’ 19 turnovers certainly helped swing things toward FIU’s favor, though. The Panthers have 72 or more points in four straight games now (a 2-2 run), and a couple of their losses this year have come to pretty tough teams in Nebraska and LSU.
