Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview
The Owls have been a mixed bag so far this year, with plenty of rough stretches mixed with solid play. FAU opened on a 4-5 run featuring losses to UCF, Charleston, Drake, Seton Hall, and Florida Gulf Coast in that time. A win streak over Florida International, Jacksonville, and Texas State came next, then a couple more losses to Michigan State and Memphis. Since then the Owls are 5-3 in their last eight games with losses to UAB, Tulane, and North Texas in that time. The wins otherwise have come courtesy of East Carolina, Charlotte, Rice, UTSA, and South Florida, giving Florida Atlantic a 12-10 overall record through their first 22 games of the year.Â
In the Owls’ matchup with South Florida on Sunday, they had a 46-35 halftime edge. Florida Atlantic kept it up from there, hitting a 48-37 run the rest of the way during a 94-72 victory in the end. Leading the starters in scoring was Tre Carroll with 18 points, seven boards, and five assists. Matas Vokietaitis added 18 bench points with three rebounds, while Niccolo Moretti came off the bench for 17 points, five assists, and four rebounds in 27 minutes of work.Â
Tulsa Golden Hurricane Betting Preview
Over on the Tulsa side, they’ve had more down notes this year than solid runs of play. The Hurricane won their first three games of the season, then hit a 1-7 run with losses to Missouri State, Little Rock, Loyola Chicago, Georgia State, Oklahoma State, Southern, and UCF (with a win over Detroit mixed in). A 5-4 run came next with wins over MS Valley State, Southwestern Christian, UTSA, Charlotte, and Wichita State among losses to Rice, UAB, South Florida, and East Carolina. It’s been a three-game losing streak for Tulsa since then with losses to UAB, Tulane, and Memphis in succession. The result so far is a 9-14 record on the year.Â
Matched up against Memphis in their Wednesday outing, the Hurricane trailed 39-34 in the locker room. Tulsa hit a 44-37 deficit the rest of the way and ultimately didn’t get any closer in an 83-71 loss. Tyshawn Archie led the team off the bench with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Starters Isaiah Barnes (four rebounds) and Dwon Odom (three rebounds; six assists; one steal) each notched 11 points in the defeat.Â

Florida Atlantic vs Tulsa PredictionÂ
I’ll stay with FAU. The Owls didn’t have a ton of issues versus a middling South Florida team in their latest matchup, hitting a nice 56.1 percent from the field with a 38-34 rebounding edge and 15 points off nine Bulls turnovers. Florida Atlantic was great from 3-point range in that one as well, hitting 10-of-23 (43.5 percent). The Owls are on a pretty good scoring run these days overall. They’ve got 94 points in consecutive games, and 75 or more in three of the last four (all three being wins).Â
As for Tulsa, they’ve lost five of their last six games and they’re giving up quite a bit of scoring to solid offenses. The Hurricane have surrendered 77 or more points in four of the last five, so Florida Atlantic should have plenty of opportunities in this one.Â
