Drexel Dragons Betting Preview
The Dragons had a 4-4 run over their first eight games this year, then hit a rough 2-6 stretch over the next eight games with wins over only Mount St. Mary’s and Maine. Drexel was able to win six of the next seven outings over Stony Brook, William & Mary, Monmouth, Northeastern, Hampton and North Carolina A&T, however. Over the first 23 games that would give the Dragons a 12-11 run overall.
On Thursday versus Campbell, the Dragons were within three points at the break 39-36. Drexel was outscored during a pretty rough second half 42-24 however, ultimately leading to a blowout loss on the road 81-60 in the end. Shane Blakeney led the team on 15 points with five rebounds and Josh Reed had 14 points with four rebounds in 23 minutes of work during the losing effort.
Elon Phoenix Betting Preview
Over on the Elon side, they also had a 4-4 start this year before winning eight of their next 11 games over Wofford, Northern Illinois, Richmond, Greensboro College, Northeastern, North Carolina A&T, Campbell and Hofstra. A 1-3 run came in the next four though, with losses to Towson, Charleston and Stony Brook. That would give the Phoenix a 13-10 record on the year through 23 outings.
Matched up against Hampton on Thursday the Phoenix went into the break with a 33-33 tie. Elon kept the pace from there on a 31-31 run and had to go to overtime. After two extra periods, the Phoenix finished with an 87-79 defeat on the road. Chandler Cuthrell led the team on a double-double with his 32 points, 10 rebounds and one assist in 40 minutes of work on the floor.

Drexel vs Elon Prediction
I’ll stick with Elon but I’m probably not touching this one. The Phoenix need to get over a tough loss to a middling Hampton team this week as well. Elon shot 42.9 percent from the field in that one and gave up just 37.7 percent shooting on defense. The Phoenix were a tepid 18-of-30 (60 percent) from the line however, and gave up 13 turnovers in the defeat. Elon is just 1-4 in their last five games, giving up 72 or more points in all five of those.
As for Drexel, they shot well (49.1 percent) from the field in their loss to Campbell. The Dragons also gave up 50 percent on the other side though, and had 17 turnovers. The 20 percent (3-of-15) from 3-point range didn’t help either. Drexel is 3-1 in their last four but they’ve been below 62 points in three straight.
