Davidson Wildcats Betting Preview
The Wildcats opened their year on a five-game win streak, then hit a 3-2 stretch featuring a pair of losses to Utah State and Saint Mary’s in late November/early December. Since then it’s been a trio of losses to Temple, Kansas and Duquesne in succession ahead of a win over Saint Joseph’s. In total over the first 14 games of the year that gives Davidson a 9-5 record so far.
On Saturday at Saint Joseph’s, the Wildcats entered the second half sporting a nine-point deficit. Davidson got better from there however, notching a 42-27 run for a comeback road victory 62-56 in the end. The Wildcats’ top scorer was Sam Brown with 13 points, and Roberts Blums had 11 points. Parker Friedrichsen chipped in 10 points with three boards as well.
Loyola Ramblers Betting Preview
Over on the Loyola side, they managed an opener win this year over Cleveland State, then promptly hit a seven-game losing streak that lasted until late November. The Ramblers are 4-3 since then, beating Central Michigan, Princeton, Santa Clara and Rhode Island with losses to Chicago State, San Francisco and Dayton. That gives Loyola a 5-10 run over their first 15 games so far.
Matched up against Dayton on Saturday, the Ramblers were ahead by a score of 39-31 going into the second half. Loyola was outscored 39-29 the rest of the way however, resulting in a 70-68 loss in the end. leading team scorer Justin Moore put up 19 points with five assists and Kayde Dotson had 16 points with four rebounds. Davidson vs Loyola Prediction
I’ll stick with Davidson I suppose. The Wildcats were able to dispatch of a middling Saint Joseph’s team on the road at Hagan Arena in their last outing, shooting 42.9 percent from the field with a 27-25 rebounding edge. Davidson had just six team assists along the way however, and coughed up 12 turnovers as well. The Wildcats have been below 64 points in three of the last four games, with the lone outlier being a double-overtime loss to Duquesne.
As for Loyola, there’s not a lot to get excited about this year. The Ramblers lost a close one to a pretty good Dayton team over the weekend, shooting 42.4 percent from the field with a 37-23 rebounding edge. Loyola gave away 15 turnovers and only made it to the line five times (making three) versus the Flyers’ 25 times (making 21). The Ramblers have been scoring pretty well during this current 4-3 run though, so they could hang with Davidson if all goes to plan.
