Chicago State Cougars Betting Preview
The Cougars fell versus DePaul, Saint Louis, Butler, UIC, Minnesota, Iowa, Fort Wayne and Youngstown State in their first eight games. Wins over St. Xavier IL and Loyola came in the next three, then losses to Bowling Green, Indiana, Wagner and Long Island University. Over the first 15 games of the year, that would give Chicago State a 2-13 record in the books overall.
In the Fairleigh Dickinson matchup on Thursday, the Cougars took a 10-point deficit into the second half. Chicago State got better from there on a 42-39 run but still lost 70-63 in the end. Leading the team in scoring were Stephen Byard with 15 points and eight boards, and CJ Ray with 15 points and two assists. Doyel Cockrill added 14 points with one rebound in the loss as well.
Stonehill Skyhawks Betting Preview
Over on the Skyhawks’ side, they lost eight of their first 10 games versus DePaul, Rhode Island, Fairfield, Loyola MD, Iowa State, UMass Lowell, Quinnipiac and Bryant. The next five were a 2-3 run with wins over Vermont State-Johnson and Wagner bookended around losses to New Hampshire, Syracuse and New Haven, giving Stonehill a 4-11 record in their first 15 outings of the year.
Matched up against Central Connecticut on Thursday, the Skyhawks were down 31-24 after the first half. Stonehill managed to keep the pace from there on a 45-45 run but eventually lost 76-69 in the end. Tops in scoring was Davante Hackett with 19 points and two rebounds in 29 minutes of work during the losing effort for the Skyhawks. Hermann Koffi added 17 points and two rebounds.

Chicago State vs Stonehill Prediction
I’ll stick with Stonehill I suppose. There’s not a lot to get excited about here but it should at least be a competitive game. The Skyhawks shot a solid 45 percent from the field with a 28-24 rebounding advantage in their latest loss to Central Connecticut. Trouble is, Stonehill also gave up 53.2 percent shooting on the other side and had 12 turnovers along the way. The Skyhawks are just 1-4 in their last five games, and they’ve failed to hit 70 points in each of those outings.
As for Chicago State, they held Fairleigh Dickinson to just 38.3 percent shooting from the field in their latest loss but shot only 40.8 percent themselves. The 13 turnovers and 34-19 deficit on the boards didn’t help matters either. Chicago State has lost five straight games now, with 63 or fewer points in four of them.
