Over on the Florida side, they were barely able to stay above the .500 mark across their first nine games this year, going just 5-4 overall. The Gators have since improved greatly on a 9-1 run though, taking out George Washington, Saint Francis, Colgate, Dartmouth, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and LSU. Over 19 games so far this year that makes for a 14-5 record in the books.

Matched up against LSU in a home game on Tuesday the Gators were in the locker room staring up at a 38-26 advantage. Florida didn’t let up in the second half on a 41-35 advantage and ended up taking the win 79-61 in the end. Tops in scoring for the Gators was Urban Klavzar with 18 points and three boards. Rueben Chinyelu posted a whopping 21 rebounds with 15 points as well.

I suppose I’ll stay with Florida, but you could call it either way. The Gators didn’t have a ton of issues dispatching a visiting (and pretty good) LSU team this week, notching a 48-26 rebounding edge and just nine turnovers. Florida shot a tepid 41.2 percent from the field however, and an ugly 14-of-27 (51.9 percent) from the line, so it wasn’t perfect. Still, the Gators are looking pretty solid these days with five straight wins and nine wins in the last 10 games. They’ve scored 91 or more points in four of the last five as well.

As for Auburn, they put up a 38-14 edge in the paint, a 37-23 advantage on the boards and just nine turnovers in their road win over Ole Miss. The Tigers held the Rebels to just 36.1 percent shooting on the other side as well. Auburn has won three of the last four games themselves, and they’ve held opponents below 68 points in consecutive outings.
