Ohio Bobcats Betting Preview
Record-wise the Bobcats were looking pretty good in mid-January but it’s been a struggle since then. Ohio opened on a 10-6 run, then hit a 3-6 stretch that featured wins over Kent State, Western Michigan, and Bowling Green amid losses to Akron, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Miami Ohio, App State, and Kent State. It’s been a 3-3 run for the Bobcats over the last six games since then. Ohio has beaten Central Michigan, Akron, and Miami Ohio in that time with losses otherwise to Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Toledo. Over the 31 games so far this year that gives the Bobcats a record of 16-15 overall.
In their Friday road matchup versus Toledo, the Bobcats opened up the game on a 47-41 deficit. Ohio was outscored 49-41 the rest of the way and ended up taking the loss in the end 96-82. Leading the team in scoring during the losing effort was Elmore James with 20 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Shereef Mitchell added 18 points with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Jackson Paveletzke put up 15 points with two assists and one rebound.
Toledo Rockets Betting Preview
Over on the Toledo side, they’ve had a couple of bumpy stretches so far this year, with one of them starting in early February. The Rockets kicked things off on a middling 6-6 run over the first dozen outings, then hit a 4-2 stretch with losses to Akron and Kent State among wins over Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, and Ball State. Wins over Bowling Green, Ohio, Northern Illinois, Buffalo, and James Madison ensued, then a 2-6 run. Those wins have come versus Ball State and Ohio. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Miami Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, Kent State, Buffalo, and Akron. That gives the Rockets a slightly better 17-14 record this year over their first 31 outings.
In the Ohio game last week, the Rockets were led by Javan Simmons with 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the victory. Sam Lewis was close behind on 20 points with five rebounds and two assists as well.

Ohio vs Toledo Prediction
I’ll take a stab at Ohio in this one. You could argue it either way, though; we should have a pretty good matchup on our hands here if both teams play well. Interestingly enough, we had a meeting between these squads just last week, with Toledo powering out a high-flying home victory. The Rockets shot a nice 59.7 percent from the field in that one with a 31-27 rebounding edge, 18-of-20 from the line (90 percent), and just seven turnovers. Ohio didn’t play too badly on the other side, shooting 49.2 percent from the field with 16-of-18 (88.9 percent) from the line and only eight turnovers. Toledo has won both meetings between these teams this year though, including an 86-83 road win on January 28.
Ohio has lost three of their last four games but they’re still scoring well with 73 or more points in each of those defeats. The Bobcats will likely have to keep up a blistering pace in this third matchup, but I think they can pull it off if all goes well.
