Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview
The Falcons’ year didn’t start off so well, but they’ve been doing much better since February began. Bowling Green opened on a rough 7-9 run, then took five straight losses to Eastern Michigan, Miami Ohio, Toledo, Kent State, and Central Michigan. The Falcons have just three losses since then, falling to Ohio, Kent State, and Western Michigan. The wins otherwise during that time have come courtesy of Northern Illinois, Coastal Carolina, Buffalo, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, and Northern Illinois. In total across 31 games that gives the Falcons a 14-17 overall record so far this year.
In the Friday matchup versus Western Michigan, the Falcons were down by one point heading into the second half. Bowling Green kept the pace from there on a 31-31 run but still lost 64-63 in the end. Marcus Johnson (five rebounds; two assists) and Derrick Butler (five rebounds; two steals) each posted a team-high 20 points in the victory. DaJion Humphrey added 10 points with four rebounds in 30 minutes of work, while Javontae Campbell had six points, seven assists, and four rebounds in 37 minutes on the floor during the defeat.
Akron Zips Betting Preview
Over on the Akron side, they got started on a fairly shaky stretch over their first dozen games, but since then they’ve been on a tear. Akron went 7-5 in those first 12 outings, however, they’ve lost only one game (versus Ohio on February 22) in the 2025 calendar year. The wins otherwise have come versus Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Ohio, Buffalo, Miami Ohio, Northern Illinois, Kent State, Ball State, South Alabama, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ball State, Kent State, Toledo and Buffalo in succession. That gives the Zips a 25-6 run across their first 31 games this season.
Matched up against Buffalo in the home rematch on Friday, the Zips were ahead comfortably 47-24 by the break. Akron was outscored 46-41 the rest of the way but still held on for the win 88-70. Isaiah Gray led the starters with 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while James Okonkwo doubled up on 10 points with 11 rebounds. Nate Johnson added 14 points and two rebounds in 23 minutes of work off the bench as well.

Bowling Green vs Akron Prediction
I’ll stick with Akron. The Zips are on a tear these days and coming off a dominant win over a struggling Buffalo squad. In that one, Akron posted 47.1 percent shooting while giving up just 37.7 percent on the other side. The Zips won the rebounding battle 44-36 and had just six turnovers. If there’s a gripe it’s the seven of 19 misses the line (63.2 percent). Otherwis,e it was a pretty great outing overall.
The last time these teams saw each other was a tight one that ended up a 71-68 road win for Akron back on January 3. The Zips had a slow first half in that one and only ended up shooting 38.8 percent with a 50-38 rebounding deficit. The 22 points off 15 Falcons turnovers proved to be the difference. Akron has a lot to clean up in this tournament rematch, but I still like them slightly better.
