UNC Greensboro Spartans Betting Preview
The Spartans have had some nice runs this year, as well as a few rough ones. Overall they’re not doing too badly record-wise, though. UNC Greensboro went 6-6 over their first 12 games, losing to SMU, Indiana, San Jose State, UTEP, North Florida, and Elon in that stretch. A 6-1 run came next though, as the Spartans took out Virginia Lynchburg, Wofford, Furman, Chattanooga, the Citadel, and Western Carolina alongside a lone loss to Samford. Since then UNC Greensboro is 2-2 with wins over VMI and East Tennessee State bookended by losses to Mercer and Wofford, giving the Spartans a 14-9 overall record through 23 games so far.
In the Wofford matchup on Saturday, the Spartans were down by eight points at the break. UNC Greensboro hit a 39-35 run the rest of the way and ended up losing 74-62 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Ronald Polite with 18 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Jalen Breath hauled in 17 rebounds with 10 points, while Donovan Atwell had 10 points with four turnovers in 33 minutes of work.
Citadel Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Citadel side, they got off to a reasonable start through early December, but it’s been a long string of losses since then. The Bulldogs went 5-3 over their first eight games, beating Erskine, Stetson, North Greenville, St. Andrews, and Toccoa Falls. A losing streak began on December 12 versus Campbell, then the Citadel fell to Central Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Samford, Chattanooga, Furman, East Tennessee State, UNC Greensboro, VMI, Wofford, Western Carolina, Mercer, and Samford again. The result so far has been a dismal 5-16 run through the first 21 games of the season for the Bulldogs.
Matched up against Samford on Saturday, the Citadel came into the second half looking up at a 47-29 deficit. The second half was a 36-29 run in favor of Samford, and the Citadel ended up falling 83-58 in blowout fashion at home. The only starter in double-figures was Sola Adebisi with 18 points and nine boards. Coming off the bench to lead the team in scoring was Christian Moore, who notched 19 points with two assists and two steals in 32 minutes of work.
Why the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans will win

- North Carolina-Greensboro has won 16 of its last 17 night games against The Citadel.
- North Carolina-Greensboro has won the first half in each of its last 16 Wednesday night games against the Southern Conference.
UNC Greensboro vs the Citadel Prediction
I’ll stay with UNC Greensboro. There’s not a whole lot to get excited about here, though. The Spartans didn’t play particularly well against an average Wofford team in their last outing, shooting just 39 percent from the field with 12 turnovers for 14 Terriers points. The only saving grace for UNC Greensboro was their 39-33 advantage on the boards (16-9 offensive). Everything else was pretty ugly stats-wise. That makes fewer than 63 points in two of the last three games (a 2-1 run) so it’d be nice to see the Spartans score well here.
UNC Greensboro secured a 70-57 home victory the last time these teams met back on January 15. The Spartans shot fairly well (43.8 percent) in that one and had a 36-29 rebounding edge. The turnovers got sloppy though (12 for 11 Bulldogs points). UNCG needs to control the butterfingers in the road rematch, but I think they’ll be okay.
