Butler Bulldogs Betting Preview
Butler came out of the gate firing this year, but since early December they’ve had trouble finding wins. During a 7-1 start the Bulldogs took out Missouri State, Western Michigan, SMU, Merrimack, Northwestern, Mississippi State, and Eastern Illinois. A losing streak versus Houston, North Dakota State, Wisconsin, Marquette, UConn, Villanova, St. John’s, Providence, and Creighton came next. After a 2-1 run with wins over Seton Hall and DePaul around a loss to UConn, the Bulldogs have since lost to Marquette and Georgetown. The result so far has been a 9-13 overall run through 22 games this year for the Bulldogs.
In the Georgetown matchup on Friday, the Bulldogs held a 37-36 edge coming out of the locker room. Butler was outpaced 37-33 the rest of the way, however, and ended up losing 73-70 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Finley Bizjack with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Pierre Brooks added 14 points with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Patrick McCaffery had 11 points and seven boards. Andre Screen added 16 points with six rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes off the bench.
Seton Hall Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the Seton Hall side, they opened up on a spotty run this year and have won just once since December 4. The Pirates took out Saint Peter’s, Wagner, VCU, Florida Atlantic, and NJIT in their first nine games, then fell to Oklahoma State, Rutgers, Villanova, Georgetown, and Xavier in the next five outings. After a win over DePaul on January 8, another losing streak began. Those defeats have come versus Providence, Butler, St. John’s, Marquette, Creighton, Providence, and DePaul for a 6-16 overall record through the first 22 games of the season.
Matched up against DePaul on Sunday, the Pirates were down by nine points heading into the second half. Seton Hall came back on a 36-28 deficit in the second half on the way to a 74-57 defeat in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Isaiah Coleman with 18 points, four rebounds, three steals, and one assist as the only Pirates player to finish in double-figures. David Tubek added eight points and six boards off the bench in the defeat.

Butler vs Seton Hall Prediction
I’ll probably just stay with Butler. Probably also not touching this one, as both teams are struggling. The Bulldogs shot quite well (48.2 percent) in their latest loss to Georgetown and kept pace on the boards with a 33-33 tie in rebounding. The 13 turnovers for 17 Hoyas points really hurt though, as did the 49.2 percent shooting allowed from the field. Butler has now given up 69 or more points in 14 straight games—a 2-12 run.
These teams last saw each other back on January 15 as Butler powered out an 82-77 win at home. Both teams shot at least 50 percent in that one, but the Bulldogs pulled off a 31-24 edge on the boards that helped propel them to the victory. For their part, Seton Hall hit a blistering 56.3 percent from 3-point range (9-of-16) which kept them close on the scoreboard. In this rematch, I like a pretty close game. It’s something of a coin flip though, so I’m staying away. Should be a fun watch, however.
