Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview
The Red Raiders have been a highly consistent team so far this year; they’ve yet to lose consecutive games. Texas Tech hit a 7-1 run in their opening eight outings, losing to only Saint Joseph’s among wins over Bethune-Cookman, Northwestern State, Wyoming, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Syracuse, Northern Colorado, and DePaul. A 2-2 run commenced after that with losses to Texas A&M and UCF sandwiched around wins over Oral Roberts and Lamar. Since then it’s been a 2-1 stretch with wins over Utah and BYU ahead of another loss (in OT) versus Iowa State, giving Texas Tech an 11-4 overall record so far this year.
In the Iowa State matchup back on Saturday, the Red Raiders entered the break with a 40-34 edge. Texas Tech fell behind by that same margin in the second and eventually lost 85-84 in overtime. Leading the way was JT Toppin with 18 points and nine rebounds, Chance McMillian with 18 points and eight rebounds, and Christian Anderson with 18 points off the bench. Elijah Hawkins chipped in 10 boards with seven points in 31 minutes of work as well during the loss.
Kansas State Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Kansas State side, they hit a 6-2 overall run in their first eight games, but things haven’t been going well in the win column since then. The Wildcats lost to only LSU and Liberty in those first eight outings with wins otherwise over New Orleans, Cleveland State, Mississippi Valley State, George Washington, Longwood, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Since then it’s been a rough 1-7 stretch for the Wildcats. They’ve taken out only Cincinnati in that time, with losses versus St. Jon’s, Drake, Wichita State, TCU, Oklahoma State, and Houston otherwise during that time for a 7-8 overall run in a 15-game stretch so far this year.
In the Houston matchup over the weekend, the Wildcats came out of halftime with a 46-24 deficit. Kansas State was outscored further from there on a 41-33 run and took the blowout loss 87-57 in the end. Brendan Hausen led the team on his 15 points with one rebound. Max Jones added 13 points with four assists as the only other team player to finish in double-figures. Tops off the bench was CJ Jones with five points, one rebound, and one assist.

Texas Tech vs Kansas State Prediction
I’ll stick with Texas Tech. The Red Raiders pushed a very good Iowa State team to the limit in their last outing, but couldn’t finish off the game in the end. Texas Tech shot 42.4 percent in that one with a 37-31 rebounding edge but also coughed up 15 turnovers for 19 Cyclones points as part of a pretty sloppy overall game (30 total turnovers). The points total continues Texas Tech’s run of nice outings, as they’ve hit 72 or more points in six straight games now (a 4-2 stretch.
As for Kansas State, they were blitzed by a far superior Houston team in their last game. The Wildcats have now been below 67 points in three straight games, and they’ve given up 166 combined points in the last pair. Texas Tech should match up well here, and I like the Raiders to roll.
