Loyola Ramblers Betting Preview
The Ramblers kicked off their 2024-25 season on an absolute tear, but things have slowed down significantly since then. Loyola beat Chicago State, Detroit, Eureka, Princeton, Southern Utah, Tulsa, Eastern Michigan, and South Florida in their first eight games, then hit a rough 1-5 stretch over the next half-dozen outings. The lone win in that time came versus Canisius on December 18. Otherwise, it was losses to San Francisco, Oakland, Charleston, Murray State, and VCU. Loyola was able to stop the bleeding with a victory over La Salle in their last outing however, giving the Ramblers a 10-5 overall record through the first 15 games this year.
Matched up against La Salle on Wednesday, the Ramblers got off to a nice start with a 40-32 first half. Loyola kept it going in the second with a 39-36 run and took the much-needed win 79-68 in the end. Leading the way among the starters was Jayden Dawson with his 20 points, six boards, and three assists. Jalen Quinn added 13 points with four rebounds and two assists, while Sheldon Edwards came off the bench for 20 points with three boards and three assists. Jalen DeLoach added 12 points and five rebounds as well.
Saint Joseph’s Hawks Betting Preview
Over on the Hawks’ side, they’ve had a couple of nice stretches this year—and also a couple of bad ones. Saint Joseph opened the season on a 4-1 run with a lone loss to Central Connecticut. Otherwise, it was wins over Navy, Villanova, Penn and Texas Tech. A 2-3 run came after that with wins over Coppin State and La Salle among losses to Texas, Princeton, and Charleston. The Hawks would rebound with wins over American, Virginia Tech, Delaware State, and UMass before two more losses versus Saint Louis and Duquesne for a 10-6 result so far.
In the Duquesne matchup, the Hawks were down 36-30 at the break but rallied to force overtime with 43 second-half points. Saint Joseph’s fell short in the extra period 12-8 though, resulting in an 85-81 defeat. Leading the team in scoring on a double-double was Rasheer Fleming with 20 points and 10 rebounds alongside four assists. Xzayvier Brown doubled as well with 17 points and 10 assists with five rebounds. Derek Simpson chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes of work on the floor.

Loyola vs Saint Joseph’s Prediction
I’ll stick with Loyola, but you could probably call this one either way. The Ramblers beat a middling La Salle team fairly convincingly on the road in their last outing, shooting a nice 48.1 percent from the field with 37 rebounds and 10 team assists. The 79 points were a nice total after posting three straight games under 69 points. Loyola has given up 71 or more points in four of the last five (and 68 or more in all five) however, so they’re going to have to watch the defensive effort on Saturday.
As for Saint Joe’s, they fell just short against Duquesne in their last game, thanks mostly to 13 turnovers for 20 Dukes' points. The Hawks have hit 75 or more points in seven of their last eight games, so Loyola is going to have to really press the issue on offense in order to keep a cover pace here. I think the Ramblers can pull it off, though.
