The Huskies went 2-2 over their first four games this year, beating Avila and Rockford around losses to Texas and Creighton. Houston Christian has since lost three straight to Rice, Eastern Michigan, and Northern Arizona.
On Wednesday versus Northern Arizona, the Huskies jumped out to a 40-23 halftime lead Houston Christian was drilled 51-31 from there however, eventually losing 74-71. Leading team scorer Elijah Brooks finished with 29 points, and Julian Mackey added 28 points.
UTSA Roadrunners Betting Preview
Over on the UTSA side, they’ve gone 2-3 through five games so far. The Roadrunners have wins over Trinity Texas and Merrimack. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Bradley, Little Rock, and Troy for UTSA this year.
In their last outing versus Merrimack, the Roadrunners were up 37-36 going into the second half. UTSA hit a 39-38 run from there and held off the Warriors for a 76-74 win. Primo Spears topped the team with 29 points, while Jonnivius Smith doubled on 11 points and 20 boards.

Why the Houston Christian Huskies will win

Houston Christian vs UTSA Prediction
I’ll probably lean toward UTSA. The Roadrunners need to play a much cleaner game here than they did against a struggling Merrimack team, though. UTSA coughed up 20 turnovers and shot a tepid 40 percent in that two-point victory but were buoyed by a solid 48-33 rebounding advantage (21-10 offensive). The Roadrunners have 72 or more points in four of five games so far this year, though they’re also giving up a ton of offense on the other side.
As for Houston Christian, they’re still reeling from a second-half breakdown in the loss to Northern Arizona. The Huskies have now dropped three straight, but the good news is that they lost each game by three points or fewer. That said, if UTSA can get those turnovers under control and shoot a little better the Roadrunners should control the pace on Saturday.
