Francisco Cerundolo will become the first Argentine to win the title at Queen’s Club if he triumphs on Sunday. He is the first man from his country to reach the final since 2012, when David Nalbandian was defaulted for kicking at the advertising board courtside and injuring a line judge.
Cerundolo reached the final at Queen’s with a three-set victory over Brandon Nakashima. Cerundolo lost the first set in a tiebreak, having served for the set at 6-5 up. But the Argentine made no mistake in the next two sets. He recovered from a break deficit in Set 2 and broke Nakashima at least twice in the decider to complete the comeback win.
This is Cerundolo’s first final above the ATP 250 level. He improves to 26-12 for the season. Before this round, he had beaten Aleksandar Kovacevic, Jenson Brooksby and Arthur Fery. Cerundolo has one title on grass, which he won in Eastbourne in 2023.
