Northwestern Recap
The Northwestern Wildcats come into this one looking to bounce back from a 71-69 loss at the hands of Butler last time out. Northwestern will meet Iowa, Illinois, Georgia Tech, and DePaul after this game.
Wildcats Looking To Rebound After Snapping Four-Game Win Streak
Nick Martinelli leads the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding with 21.4 PPG and 7 RPG while Brooks Barnhizer has 19 PPG and 7.7 RPG with 3.3 APG in 3 games played so far this season. Jalen Leach had added 14.7 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Northwestern so far this season while K.J. Windham’s also added 2.4 APG as well on the year. As a team, Northwestern is averaging 73.6 PPG on 44.9% shooting from the field, 30.8% from three, and 74% from the foul line this season.
Why the Northwestern Wildcats will win
- Northwestern has won each of its last nine Friday games against non-conference opponents.
- UNLV has lost each of its last four games against non-AP-ranked opponents at a neutral venue.
UNLV Recap

UNLV Looking For Response After Being Shut Down By Bulldogs
Dedan Thomas Jr. leads the Rebels in scoring and assists with 16.5 PPG and 4.2 APG while Jeremiah Cherry has 13.7 PPG with a team-high 6.2 RPG to lead UNLV in rebounding. Jalen Hill has 10.3 PPG with 5 RPG and 2.3 SPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for UNLV up to this point in the year. As a team, UNLV is averaging 76.2 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field, 38.4% from three, and 74.2% from the foul line this season.
Why the UNLV Runnin' Rebels will win
- UNLV has won four of its last five games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
- Northwestern has lost three of its last four day games.
Northwestern vs. UNLV Prediction
I’m on Northwestern here. We’ve just seen UNLV really stumble in their step-up spots so far this season and I don’t think this game’s going to be any different. Northwestern’s been rock solid with Martinelli leading the charge and now Barnhizer’s given the Wildcats a second scoring threat behind him, and I think this one could get a bit ugly. Give me Northwestern.
