Villanova has been a major disappointment this season and they have already lost two games. Villanova three games ago lost to Columbia 90-80 and in the last game against Saint Joseph’s, they ended up losing 83-76. In the second half, the defense gave up 47 points and they ended up losing by eight. One issue for this team is they aren’t very deep. Four players had at least 12 points and the other five players combined for only five points total. Eric Dixon was the top player putting up 24 points, nine rebounds, and one assist. They also sent Saint Joseph’s to the free-throw line 25 times. In this game, the Villanova defense is going to need to be a whole lot better. 

Why Villanova Will Beat Virginia

• Villanova has won each of its last six-day games against the Atlantic Coast Conference.
• Virginia has lost the first half in three of its last four-day games against non-conference opponents.

Virginia Still Plays Strong Defense

Virginia made a coaching change but one thing is still true about this team, they can play defense. In the first game of the season against Campbell, Virginia scored 63 points while the defense gave up 56 points. In the last game Coppin State, Virginia gave up only 45 points and they ended up winning by 17 points. Virginia shot 40.4 percent from the field but only 33.3 percent from behind the three-point line. Elijah Saunders had a strong game putting up 15 points, five rebounds, and one assist. There were four different players that put up at least 11 points. Virginia will take on Tennessee and Manhattan after this one.

Virginia vs Villanova Prediciton

This game is going to be lower-scoring. Virginia’s defense is going to step up and they are going to really make this game lower. They want to keep this pace slow and they are going to really struggle to get the offense going again. I don’t expect either team is going to reach 60 points, and this game is going to end up staying under the posted total. This is one of my favorite plays on the board.
