UNC Wilmington Seahawks Betting Preview

UNC Wilmington has only two games in the can so far, but they’ve both gone well. The Seahawks’ opener was a blowout 143-91 win over Mount Olive that featured 81 first-half points from UNCW. Leading scorer Bo Montgomery finished with 22 points and seven boards.

In game two versus Georgia Southern, the Seahawks were in trouble with a 37-34 halftime deficit. UNC Wilmington clawed back in the second half on a 58-47 run and took the win 92-84. Donovan Newby led with 33 points, and Khamari McGriff doubled on 21 points and 12 rebounds.

USC Upstate Spartans Betting Preview

Over on the Spartans’ side, they kicked off their season with a blowout loss 97-66 versus NC State. USC Upstate would find the win column in their next outing 103-70 versus Piedmont, then fell 93-74 versus Virginia Tech in game three.

Matched up against Wake Forest on Wednesday, the Spartans took a three-point deficit into the break and eventually lost a tough one 85-80. Mister Dean led the team with 24 points, while Brit Harris added 16 points with three rebounds. USC Upstate will take on East Tennessee State, Queens, and Iowa following this game.

I’ll probably stick with UNC Wilmington. The Seahawks have had a couple of nice wins so far, though they weren’t without drama. UNCW shot a rough 20 percent (5-of-25) from 3-point range in their comeback win over GA Southern, but offset the outside shooting with a dominant 46-29 rebounding edge. The Seahawks shot a whopping 59 free throws in that one, making 45 of them (76.3 percent).

As for USC Upstate, on Wednesday they gave Wake Forest a good game but couldn’t overcome their 17 turnovers and 50.9 percent shooting allowed. The Spartans do have some momentum from a close outing coming into Friday’s game, but I don’t think they’ll quite turn it into a cover.
