UNLV Rebels Betting Preview

The Rebels’ first game of the season came against the Memphis Tigers. In that one UNLV had a seven-point halftime lead but eventually lost it in a 27-21 result. QB Jackson Arnold was 25-of-37 for 291 yards and two scores while also leading the rush on 21 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown.

In game two versus Hawaii last weekend, the Rebels were able to get into the win column. UNLV came out of halftime with a 14-3 lead and kept it going for a 21-6 victory. Arnold was just 8-of-18 this time with 116 yards but added 89 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Jai’Den Thomas had 143 yards and a rush score of his own.

North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview

Over on the North Texas side, they fell just short of greatness last season, going 12-2 overall. The Mean Green were 7-1 in American Conference play, and lost to Tulane in the championship game. In the New Mexico Bowl North Texas was able to get a little bit of glory back with a 49-47 victory over San Diego State.

In their first action of the 2026 season, the Mean Green had a tough draw against a great Indiana team. That one went how you’d expect: North Texas finished off with a 52-16 loss after surrendering points in every quarter. QB Tayven Jackson was 22-of-28 for 192 yards and an interception.

UNLV vs North Texas Prediction

I’ll stick with North Texas. Probably not touching this one, though. The Mean Green weren’t going to do much in a tough road opener matchup versus Indiana and that’s basically how it went. North Texas posted 367 total yards with 5.5 yards per play and 19 first downs but had little chance at keeping up with Indiana’s quick offensive strikes. The Hoosiers scored 52 points and only held the ball for 22:38 of game time.

As for UNLV, they utilized the rush to beat Hawaii last weekend, posting 248 yards on the ground, 6.0 yards per play and no turnovers. The defense was pretty good as well with 294 yards, 3.9 yards per play and 9-of-20 on third downs allowed. This weekend’s game should be better-matched on both sides and it’ll be an interesting one to watch.

Andrew Jett's Pick: North Texas Mean Green +3.5
