The UCLA Bruins and California Golden Bears meet Saturday in college football action at California Memorial Stadium. Here’s a UCLA vs California Prediction. This article will include a UCLA vs California Pick.

UCLA Bruins Betting Preview

UCLA won three games last season and begins the Bob Chesney era. UCLA has made just two bowl appearances since the 2018 season.

Nico Iamaleava returns at quarterback after throwing for nearly 2,000 yards and scoring 17 total touchdowns. There’s a lot of transfers at the skill positions and the offensive line, but the Bruins have a fighting chance with a 5-star quarterback leading the way. UCLA lost its top three tacklers from last season, but defensive backs Cole Martin and Rodrick Pleasant form a solid duo. Yet another team with endless roster turnover, but the QB position has been settled, and there could be a culture change with a new coach. The only way to go is up for the Bruins.

California Golden Bears Betting Preview

California won 7 games last season and has made a bowl appearance in each of the last three years. Cal now begins the Tosh Lupoi era.

Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele returns at quarterback after throwing for 3,44 yards and 18 touchdowns. He’s one of the best returning quarterbacks in the country. The skill positions are a ton of transfers, but Sagapolutele is a playmaker who put up numbers last year behind a bad offensive line. Defensively, Cal says goodbye to its top-six tacklers, but it will get Nate Burrell back from injury, and Cam Sidney is a proven defensive back. Like many teams in college football these days, Cal has heavy roster turnover, but a proven quarterback can fix a lot of issues.

UCLA vs California Prediction

I’m not sure what UCLA has done to deserve to be favored on the road against most teams, but I see value with Cal and the points. These are two rebuilt programs trying to find themselves, and they both have two proven quarterbacks. There are a lot of question marks across the board. Home field can be a difference maker in a spot like this, especially in a season opener when everybody is still trying to find its footing. This is a winnable game for Cal. I’ll grab the points.

Randy Chambers's Pick: California +2.5
