North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview
The Tar Heels lost to TCU in their opener this year, then took out Charlotte and Richmond in the next two games. After that came losses to Central Florida, Clemson, Cal and Virginia ahead of a 27-10 road win versus Syracuse. In that matchup the Tar Heels gave up just 147 total yards, 39 pass yards, 12 first downs, 2.9 yards per play and 3-of-12 on third-down tries. The offense went just 4-of-13 on third downs themselves but also gained 425 total yards.
Last weekend versus Stanford, North Carolina had a one-touchdown lead at home heading into the final quarter. After a 12-10 deficit from there, the Tar Heels held on for the win 20-15 in the end. QB Gio Lopez finished with 203 yards and a pair of scores on 18-of-25 passing while leading rusher Davion Gause had 11 carries for 28 yards in the victory. North Carolina’s Jordan Shipp led the receivers with his five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown along the way.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Betting Preview
Over on the Wake Forest side, they beat Kennesaw State and Western Carolina in their first two games then fell versus NC State and Georgia Tech in the next pair. The Deacons beat Virginia Tech, Oregon State and SMU in the next three, then lost to Florida State. In the 42-7 blowout loss at the hands of the Seminoles on November 1, the Deacons gained just 247 total yards with 3.5 yards per play, 19 first downs, two turnovers and 11 team penalties. The defense gave up 421 yards, 7.4 yards per play and 7-of-11 on third downs on the other side in the defeat.
Matched up against Virginia in a big road game Saturday, the Deacons gave up a field goal in each of the first three quarters but also utilized a second-quarter touchdown of their own to propel the team to an improbable upset road win 16-9 in the end. Robby Ashford threw for just 46 yards on 7-of-16 passing and Demond Claiborne had 75 yards on 25 carries as the top rusher. Ty Clark’s lone 22-yard catch put him atop the receivers in the winning effort.

North Carolina vs Wake Forest Prediction
I’ll go with Wake Forest, so long as they don’t suffer from the proverbial “big-win hangover” this weekend, though. The Deacons weren’t able to get much in the way of offense during their upset victory over Virginia on the road last weekend, with just 203 total yards, 3.2 yards per play, 12 first downs and 5-of-17 on third-down tries. The defense gave up 327 yards on the other side but held strong on third downs (3-of-14) and had three fumble recoveries go their way. It was a nice bounce-back effort after getting drilled 42-7 on the road versus Florida State in their previous game, but Wake has been below 17 points in three straight outings now.
As for UNC, they gained a tepid 253 yards with 13 first downs and 11 team penalties in their five-point home win over Stanford last weekend. The Tar Heels defense came up with a couple of takeaways though, and the Cardinal’s eight penalties didn’t hurt.
