In game two versus Arkansas State, the Tigers had another good second half. Memphis outscored the Red Wolves 21-7 in that stretch for a 42-24 win. Stokes was 12-of-15 for 188 yards, two touchdowns and two picks this time. Carter had 19 carries for 183 yards and four scores while Manny Covey added 15 carries for 103 yards.

Over on the Boise State side, they managed to go 9-5 overall in 2025 with a nice 6-2 run in Mountain West games. The Broncos ended up in first place among the conference standings and beat UNLV in the championship game 38-21. Unfortunately, Boise State took a loss to Washington in the LA Bowl 38-10 to finish off the campaign.

This year Boise State opened up the season with a tough matchup versus Oregon. The Broncos stood tall with a 17-14 halftime lead but eventually fell 34-27 in the end. QB Maddux Madsen was 15-of-29 for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Dylan Riley led the rushing attack with 17 carries for 50 yards in the losing effort.

I’ll lean toward Boise State but you could make a case either way. The Broncos came out of the gate pretty strong versus Oregon but ultimately couldn’t pull off the upset. Boise State ended up with 274 yards, 18 first downs and 4-of-15 on third downs in that opener loss. The defense gave up 497 yards (378 passing) but held strong on third downs (4-of-12). The Ducks’ 10 penalties for 90 yards were helpful as well.

As for Memphis, they looked great on the ground versus Arkansas State, notching 335 rush yards and 8.3 yards per play. The Tigers did throw two picks and gave up 325 yards through the air. The four interception takeaways were nice, though. This weekend’s matchup should be a pretty fun one to watch if both teams play well.
