East Carolina Pirates Betting Preview
The Pirates were only able to maintain a .500 clip across their first half dozen games of the season. East Carolina beat Campbell, Coastal Carolina and Army in that stretch while otherwise falling versus NC State, BYU and Tulane. A winning streak began after that however, as East Carolina found their groove. Victories versus Tulsa, Temple, Charlotte and Memphis came in the next four games, giving the Pirates a 7-3 record.
In Saturday’s matchup with UTSA, the Pirates were drilled 34-3 in the first half and gave up double-digit points in every quarter during a 58-24 blowout loss. QB Katin Houser was 18-of-32 for 241 yards, two scores and a pick while Marlon Gunn carried five times for 62 yards and a TD. Lead receiver Anthony Smith caught eight balls for 143 yards and a TD.
Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview
Over on the Florida Atlantic side, they stumbled to a 1-3 start over their first four outings this season. The Owls beat only Florida A&M in that time, otherwise losing to Maryland, Florida International and Memphis. Wins over Rice and UAB came next, then a couple of losses versus South Florida and Navy. FAU would then beat Tulsa and lose to Tulane, giving the team a 4-6 run through the first 10 outings of the season.
Matched up against UConn last weekend, the Owls were down 24-3 by the end of the first quarter but worked their way back in an eventual loss 48-45. Caden Veltkamp was 42-of-55 for 494 yards, two TDs and a pick while also rushing in two scores. Kaden Shields-Dutton had 77 yards and a score on 14 carries, and Dom Henry caught seven balls for 157 yards and a TD.

East Carolina vs Florida Atlantic Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Florida Atlantic but I’m probably not touching this one. The Owls played from behind in most of the game versus UConn and fell just short. FAU mustered 687 total yards, 494 pass yards and a whopping 37 first downs but it wasn’t enough thanks to a couple of turnovers and 600 yards allowed by the defense. The good news is that FAU has been scoring well lately with 32 or more options in three of the last four.
As for East Carolina, they gave up 458 yards, 210 rush yards, 6.4 yards per play and 27 first downs in their loss to UTSA last weekend. The offense posted just 15 first downs and 2-of-14 on third-down tries alongside three turnovers, and the team committed 12 penalties for 120 yards. The Pirates had been playing very well before that however, so FAU will have their hands full if East Carolina bounces back.
