Central Connecticut Blue Devils Betting Preview

Last year the Blue Devils managed to post an 8-5 overall run with a 6-1 run in Northeast Conference games. That would put Central Connecticut in first place among the NEC standings. In the NCAA Division I First Round game versus Rhode Island however, the Blue Devils took a tough loss 27-19.

In their first matchup of 2026 versus South Dakota, the Blue Devils gave up double-digit points in each of the first three quarters during a blowout loss 59-20. QB Connor Kenyon had 81 yards with a score on 9-of-18 passing and Brett Griffis led the rush on eight carries for 43 yards. Tops in receiving was Michael Trovarelli with five catches for 45 yards and a score.

Toledo Rockets Betting Preview

Over on the Toledo side, they put up an 8-5 overall record in 2025 as well. The Rockets posted a 6-2 run in Mid-American Conference games, which put the team in fourth place behind Western Michigan, Miami-OH and Ohio. In the Boca Raton Bowl however, Toledo ended up taking a 27-22 loss to Louisville which finished the season on a down note.

Matched up against Michigan State in their first game of the season, the Rockets were down 19-14 heading into the fourth quarter. Toledo ended up losing 30-20 as the game concluded. The Rockets’ John Alan Richter put up a 12-of-21 line for 196 yards, two scores and a pick, while Connor Walendzak rushed seven times for 76 yards and a TD of his own.

Central Connecticut vs Toledo Prediction

I’ll stay with Toledo but I’m not touching it. The Rockets managed a nice 6.7 yards per play against Michigan State in their opener loss and only allowed 6-of-18 on third-down tries defensively. Trouble is, the Rockets also had just 10 first downs, 1-of-8 on third downs and 16:44 in time of possession. There’s a lot to clean up in this one, but at least the competition will be more manageable.

As for the Blue Devils, they got blasted to the tune of 594 yards (267 rushing), 10.4 yards per play and 25 first downs in their loss to South Dakota. The offense only managed 15 first downs and 4-of-14 on third downs. Central Connecticut also has quite a bit to clean up themselves, and I think they’ll look better here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Toledo Rockets -35.5
