Army started the season with a 30-27 loss to Tarleton State, but they followed that up with an upset win over Kansas State. The Black Knights were 3-3 through six games and they played .500 ball the rest of the way, before winning the Fenway Bowl by a score of 41-16 against UConn. Army scored 23.8 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 21.6 points against per game on defense. 

This year, Army brings back a good amount of production, which should really help them start strong. The Black Knights will have Cale Hellums starting at quarterback, but the ground game continues to be the focus. Army should be one of the top possession teams in the country, but they need to make a few more big plays through the air. On defense, Army was decent in 2025, but they have a lot of new faces at the linebacker and secondary spots. It will be important for the Army offense to have success, which will limit the on field time for the defense.
