Matched up against Old Dominion on Saturday, the Dukes put up points in every quarter but barely had enough ammo to eke out a 35-32 victory. QB Alonza Barnett threw for 192 yards and a TD alongside two rush scores. Leading the rush was George Pettaway with 19 totes for 82 yards.

I’ll lean toward James Madison. The Dukes had some trouble putting away Old Dominion in their last game despite allowing just 15 first downs and 1-of-11 on third-down conversions. The JMU offense posted 425 yards (233 rushing) and 23 first downs on the other side. That makes 32 or more points in three straight games—all victories for the Dukes.
As for Appalachian State, they’re coming off a rough loss to Coastal Carolina. The Mountaineers offense had three turnovers in that one with a tepid 6-of-15 success rate on third downs. On the other side App State gave up 203 rush yards with 6-of-10 allowed on third-down tries. The good news is that the Mountaineers have had plenty of time to prep for this one. That said, I don’t think they’ll quite reach a cover.
