In their 2023 campaign, the Braves went 7-4 overall with a 6-2 record in the SWAC. Alcorn State finished just behind Prairie View A&M (also 6-2) with that record. The Braves had lost to the Panthers 23-20 back on September 23.

In their first action of the new season Saturday versus Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt powered out a dramatic 34-27 win in overtime. Alcorn State vs Vanderbilt Prediction
I’m going to stay with Vanderbilt but probably not touching it. On Saturday the Commodores blew a 14-point halftime lead but settled the matter in overtime. The good news is that the offense was disciplined (no turnovers) and balanced (190 passing; 181 rushing for 371 total). Vanderbilt went a tepid 5-of-12 on third downs, however, and gave up 322 passing yards on defense.
As for Alcorn State, they came up with just 177 total yards (60 passing), 12 first downs, and two turnovers against UAB in their game-one blowout defeat. The Braves gave up 517 yards on the other side, with 302 of those coming on the ground. It probably won’t get much easier this week.
