Robert Morris Looks to Finish at Least .500

Robert Morris had some struggles last season, but a couple of wins late was enough for them to secure the 4-7 victory. The good news for Robert Morris is that they have most of their starters back on offense. Anthony Chiccitt is back to start under center and last season he threw for 1,651 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions. The offense also got better with a couple of transfers coming in. Isaiah Stewart is in from Nebraska and the expectation is he will find a ton of success. 

On defense though, the story isn’t the same and they are losing some key players. Jam Jackson and defensive lineman Noah Steverson were two of the best players on the defense last year, but both are gone this season. In this game, if they want to find success, they are going to need the defense to really step up.

Spencer Petras was inconsistent at Iowa, but he’s going to be the starter going into the season, and they hope that he’s going to have a big season. The good news for Petras is he has a ton of playmakers that he can lean on. Last year, Jalen Royals caught 71 passes for 1,080 yards and 15 touchdowns. The question this season is will the quarterback be able to get the ball out to him. 

On the other side of the field, the defense was an issue, and they are going to need the defense to be a whole lot better here. The best talent from last year MJ Tafisi is gone, and they need to find a way to replace his production. The good news is they do have Ike Larsen, and he is one of the better safeties in the conference. 

Robert Morris vs Utah State prediction

The people around Utah State seem to be excited about the addition of Petras, but they must have watched something different than we saw at Iowa. He really struggled to move the ball at Iowa, and even though he has talented wideouts here, it doesn’t matter if he can’t hit them in stride. Now they are better than Robert Morris, but they aren’t 31.5 points better. This Utah State offense is going to struggle to move the ball, and Robert Morris will keep it within a few touchdowns.
