Yannick Hanfmann will face big-serving Frenchman Quentin Halys in the semifinals of the Kitzbuhel Open on Friday, July 24th. It will be their first meeting in nine years. Hanfmann will look to reach his second final of the season, while Halys will be chasing his first. Here’s our Yannick Hanfmann vs Quentin Halys prediction. This preview will include a Yannick Hanfmann vs Quentin Halys pick.

Yannick Hanfmann vs Quentin Halys Preview

Yannick Hanfmann beat Sebastian Baez in straight sets to reach the Kitzbuhel semifinals for the fourth time in his career. The match took 16 games to decide. Hanfmann routinely dismissed the Argentine 6-3, 6-1 in an hour and 19 minutes.

In the victory, Hanfmann hit 7 aces and did not account for any double faults. He landed 56% of first serves in play and won 74% of first serve points (23/31). Hanfmann won 63% of second serve points (15/24) and saved all four break points he faced in the match.

Before this round, Hanfmann tallied wins over Neumayer and Trungelliti, winning both matches in straight sets. It’s the fourth time he’s reached the Kitzbuhel semifinals. The German made the final in this tournament back in 2020 as a qualifier and lost to Miomir Kecmanovic.

Quentin Halys is competing in Kitzbuhel for the first time this week and the Frenchman has made it to the last four on debut. He beat Mariano Navone in two tight sets to progress. The match took 21 games to decide. Halys eased past Navone 7-5, 6-3 in an hour and 27 minutes.

In the victory, Halys hit 7 aces and 1 double fault. Halys landed 59% of first serves in play and won 80% of first serve points (28/35). Halys won 67% of second serve points (16/24) and saved three of four break points in the match.

Halys has also not dropped a set this week at the Kitzbuhel Open. He beat Laslo Djere 7-6, 6-4 and Valentin Vacherot 6-3, 6-4. It’s the second time he’s reached the semis this season after doing so at the Bordeaux Challenger.

Yannick Hanfmann vs Quentin Halys Head-To-Head

Halys leads Hanfmann 2-0 in the head-to-head, winning their last bout at the 2017 Bergamo Challenger in straight sets.

Yannick Hanfmann vs Quentin Halys Prediction

Both men have been imperious on serve all week, but I’d have to back Hanfmann to make it to the title match. The German’s movement, serve placement and an otherwise unorthodox game have been the cornerstone of his success on clay. He’s the likelier to fashion break point chances in this match and potentially convert them.

Nur Said's Pick: Hanfmann in three sets
