Sofia Kenin is making her third main draw appearance at the China Open in Beijing. She will be seeking an improvement from 2023, when she was knocked out in the first round. Kenin has had a dismal season in singles, as she has won just nine matches all year. Her record on hard courts is even grimmer, with just three wins from 15 matches. 

Kenin is a five-time champion on the WTA Tour and a former World No. 4, but looks a shadow of her former self right now. She has at least salvaged her season in doubles where she has won two titles this year while partnering compatriot Bethanie Mattek Sands.
