Madison Keys reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal of the season at the Cincinnati Open with a hard-fought straight sets win over World No. 108 Xiyu Wang. Keys took an hour and six minutes to settle a tight opening set in a tiebreak. It was a set in which Keys trailed by a break, but went on to dominate in the tiebreak. In the second set, Keys was a break up and cruising at 4-2, but despite giving back the break, she managed to break Wang again in the ninth game. Sara Bejlek pulled off the biggest win of her young career in the last round. The Czech knocked out World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets for a spot in the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals.
