Arthur Fils and Ugo Humbert meet in the final of the 2024 Japan Open in Tokyo. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Here's our Arthur Fils vs Ugo Humbert prediction. This article will also contain an Arthur Fils vs Ugo Humbert pick.
Arthur Fils vs Ugo Humbert Preview
Arthur Fils is coming off a very good win over sixth seed Holger Rune. The Dane was Fils' third seeded casualty at the Japan Open, with the youngster also accounting for upsets over top seed Taylor Fritz and eighth seed and defending champion Ben Shelton.
Against Rune, Fils recoded the tightest of straight sets wins. He prevailed in two tie-breaks in a match that featured only two breaks of serve. Fils finished the contest with five aces to three double faults and landed 61% of first serves. He won 78% of first-serve points (45/58) and 43% of second-serve points (16/37). He will attempt to address his winless record against countryman Humbert (0-4).
Ugo Humbert, meanwhile, will be seeking his seventh ATP title on Tuesday. He dropped his first set at the tournament to Tomas Machac in the semifinal but still eased into the championship match 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 47 minutes.
In the victory, Humbert fired eight aces and two double faults and landed 53% of first serves. He converted 79% of first serves (31/39) and 62% of second serves (21/34). Humbert converted three of eight break points.
Arthur Fils vs Ugo Humbert Head-To-Head
• Humbert leads Fils 4-0 in their head-to-head at all levels. They have played twice this year, and the French No. 1 won those meetings. Humbert has only dropped one set in all four matches against Fils.
Arthur Fils vs Ugo Humbert Prediction
One of two ATP 500 titles at this year's Asian swing will be up for grabs as the No. 1 and No. 2 French players will battle for the prize. Fils has won seven hard-court matches since the start of August (including indoors). Humbert won the same number in that time span.
Seven of Fils' last 11 matches have witnessed at least one tie-break set. In fact, at the Japan Open alone, the 20-year-old has played five tie-break sets, meaning that the games market is appealing here. Although Humbert defeated Fils resoundingly when they played in Montreal, we expect a close contest in Tokyo, with both players likely to win a set in this final.
