In this article we will formulate a Iran vs New Zealand prediction for this World Cup game on Monday, June 15th at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this World Cup matchup.

Iran Betting Preview

Iran comes into the World Cup ranked 20th in the latest official FIFA rankings and they are coming off of a 2-0 win over Mali in their last game. In that win, Iran scored in the 12th minute to lead 1-0 at halftime and they added a second goal in the 55th minute. Iran has played three other friendlies this year: a 3-1 win over Gambia, a 5-0 win over Costa Rica, and a 2-1 loss to Nigeria.

Iran has qualified for six other World Cups, which came in 1978, 1998, 2006, 2014, 2018, and 2022. Iran has made five of the last seven World Cups, but they haven’t made it past the Group Stage in any of those appearances. In 2022, Iran lost to England 6-2, defeated Wales 2-0, and lost to USA 1-0 to lose in the Group Stage. In qualifying, Iran finished first in their group with 23 points, which was ahead of Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, and North Korea.

New Zealand Betting Preview

New Zealand comes into the World Cup ranked 85th in the latest official FIFA rankings and they are coming off of a 1-0 loss to England in their last match. In that loss, New Zealand allowed a goal in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half and couldn’t find any goals of their own in the defeat. New Zealand recorded three total shots, one shot on target, and had just 29% of the possession. New Zealand has played one other friendly this year, which was a 4-0 loss to Haiti.

New Zealand has qualified for two other World Cups in history, which came in 1982 and 2010. New Zealand has not advanced past the Group Stage and they are still looking for their first win at the World Cup. In 2010, New Zealand drew Slovakia 1-1, drew Italy 1-1, and drew Paraguay 0-0, before getting eliminated. In qualifying, New Zealand defeated Fiji 7-0 and New Caledonia 3-0 in the third stage to qualify.

Iran vs New Zealand Prediction

Iran comes into this matchup as the much higher ranked team and they have won three matches in a row. Iran has scored 10 goals in those three victories and they are playing very well coming into the World Cup. New Zealand is just 1-4-0 in their last five matches and they did not look good against England or Haiti in the last two weeks. I can’t back New Zealand in their current form, so I will take Iran here.

David Racey's Pick: Iran ML
