The Kansas City Chiefs have made the Super Bowl in three straight seasons and are a favorite to make it yet again. The Chiefs haven’t missed the playoffs since the 2014 season. 

The Chiefs are in great hands as long as Patrick Mahomes remains upright and coach Andy Reid is on the sidelines. It’s arguably the best QB-Coach duo in NFL history. There’s offensive line issues with the Chiefs and there’s some uncertainty around receiver Rashee Rice, but you feel good with Mahomes is on the field regardless of what the rest of the roster looks like.

Defensively, the Chiefs say goodbye to Justin Reid, but this is still one of the better defenses under uSteve Spagnuolo. The Chiefs have arguably the best linebacker group in Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill, and Leo Chenal. Chris Jones is also one of the best pass rushers in the league, with 80.5 sacks and 37 pass deflections for his career. The Chiefs aren’t perfect, mainly due to OL concerns, but the key guys have shown they will find a way to win when the lights get brightest.

The Arizona Cardinals doubled their win total in 2024 but have still made the playoffs just once since the 2016 season. Jonathan Gannon will enter his third season as head coach.

Kyler Murray is a playmaker and has shown flashes through six years, but it’s time he takes that next step in terms of consistency that leads to winning. Marvin Harrison Jr. is becoming a superstar receiver and James Conner has put together back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. The Cardinals also have a solid offensive line led by Paris Johnson Jr. and Jonah Williams, so there are no excuses for this Cards’ offense to produce at an above-average level. 

Defensively, the Cardinals should be strong up front with guys like Josh Sweat, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Calais Campbell. The secondary has question marks in terms of youth and depth, but Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson are solid safeties and can hold down the fort until guys flourish. A healthy, consistent Murray, and an improved defense, the Cardinals could push for a rare playoff spot.
