The Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers meet in week 2 NFL Preseason action from SoFi Stadium on Saturday night. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers prediction.
Los Angeles Rams Recap
The Los Angeles Rams kicked off their preseason by squeaking out a 13-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys to start the preseason 1-0. After this battle of L.A., the Rams will head to Houston to take on the Texans in their preseason finale.
Bennett Struggles In Win
Stetson Bennett saw the entire workload at QB for the Rams and threw for 224 yards, a touchdown and 4 interceptions on 24 of 38 passing while Boston Scott rushed for 68 yards on 15 carries and Zach Evans had 28 rushing yards of his own. Jordan Whittington led the Rams’ receiving group with 6 receptions for 74 yards while Sam Wiglusz and Drake Stoops each had 3 receptions with Wiglusz logging 36 receiving yards. Xavier Smith had 4 receptions while Miller Forristall added the lone TD grab for the Rams in the win. On defense, Jason Taylor II led the Rams with 7 total tackles while Zach VanValkenburg, Anthony Goodlow and Tuli Letuligasenoa each had a sack in the winning effort.
Los Angeles Chargers Recap
The Los Angeles Chargers will be out to bounce back after starting their preseason with a 16-3 loss at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks. After this game, the Chargers will head to Jerry World to take on the Dallas Cowboys to finish off their preseason schedule.
Chargers Come Out Flat Offensively In Harbaugh’s Debut
Luis Perez threw for 61 yards on 5 of 12 passing while Max Duggan threw for 41 yards on 4 of 7 passing and Easton Stick completed 5 of 13 passes for 31 yards. Jaret Patterson led the Chargers with 7 carries for 38 rushing yards while Jaylen Johnson’s lone reception went for a team-high 36 receiving yards. Simi Fehoko had a team-high 3 catches for 33 yards while Isaiah Spiller had 3 grabs of his own in the loss. On defense, Nick Niemann led the Chargers with 12 total tackles in addition to a sack, while Troy Dye and Thomas Harper each had sacks as well in the losing effort.
Rams vs. Chargers Prediction
I’m on the under here. Matthew Stafford still isn’t cleared to practice for the Rams, so we might see another heavy dose of Stetson Bennett and Bennett struggled against the Cowboys pass defense, so I could envision something similar against a solid Chargers secondary. On the other side, the Chargers don’t have any quality QB depth in my opinion after Justin Herbert and I’ve seen no indication that the Chargers are going to risk their starters here in any way, shape or form. I think this is going to be a 60-minute slop fest, so give me the under in this one.
