Pick details
Orlando Magic (41-41) vs Boston Celtics (61-21)
April 25, 2025 at 07:00 PM EDT
The Line: Betting Odds: Orlando Magic +4.5 — Over/Under: 197.5
The Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic are set to face off in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Amway Center in Orlando. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, with national coverage on ESPN. The Celtics currently lead the series 2–0 after securing victories in the first two games.
In Game 2, Boston overcame the absence of star forward Jayson Tatum, who was sidelined due to a wrist injury. Jaylen Brown stepped up with a commanding performance, scoring 36 points and showcasing leadership on both ends of the court. Kristaps Porziņģis contributed a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, despite sustaining a facial injury during the game. Derrick White added crucial three-pointers in the closing moments, helping the Celtics secure a 109–100 victory. The Magic have struggled offensively, failing to score more than 100 points in either of the first two games. Paolo Banchero has been a bright spot for Orlando, averaging over 30 points per game in the series, while Franz Wagner has provided additional scoring support. However, the team has been unable to match Boston’s depth and defensive intensity.

Paolo Banchero Over 27.5 Points
Banchero is averaging 25.9 points per game, with a field goal percentage of 45.2%. In addition to his scoring, Banchero contributed 7.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, while playing an average of 34.3 minutes per contest. In the postseason, Banchero elevated his performance further. Over the first two playoff games, he averaged 34.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, showcasing his capacity to perform under pressure. Banchero has been the only reason this Magic team hasn’t lost these 2 playoff games by 20+ points, in my opinion. He’ll need to keep up this production if the Magic want to stay competitive against the Celtics.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Under 7.5 Points
KCP is averaging 9.0 points per game, with a field goal percentage of 41.7% and a three-point shooting percentage of 31.3%. Caldwell-Pope also maintained an impressive free-throw percentage of 87.7%. In addition to his scoring, he contributed 2.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while playing an average of 30.5 minutes per contest. KCP is a fade for me right now. He’s scored less than 7 points in 5 straight games. I’ve watched both of these Magic/Celtic games from start to finish, and he’s just cold as ice right now.
Jaylen Brown Over 23.5 Points (If Tatum Doesn’t Play)
Brown is averaging 22.2 points per game, ranking 22nd in the league. Brown maintained a field goal percentage of 46.3% and a three-point shooting percentage of 32.4%. In addition to his scoring, he contributed 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, while playing an average of 34.3 minutes per contest. It looks like there’s potential that Tatum might miss this game due to the wrist injury he’s dealing with. When Tatum isn’t in the lineup, Brown plays out of his mind. We saw him put up 36 points in game 2 of this series. Keep an eye on the injury report, and if Tatum is officially ruled out at any point, bet the over on Brown’s points.
