Tyrese Maxey led the team with 26 points and 11 assists on 10 of 15 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 25 points with 11 rebounds and five assists, VJ Edgecombe scored 21 points while LeBron James and Joel Embiid chipped in with 15 points apiece. As a team, the 76ers shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t gain any separation until the third quarter where they held the Bulls to just 20 points to open up a double-digit lead and set up the blowout win. The only blemish from the win was that the 76ers’ bench players didn’t provide any support as no reserve scored more than eight points and Anfernee Simons scored just six points on two of 11 shooting.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in similar form with six wins from their first seven games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after making light work of the Hornets in a 124-91 road victory on Monday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 33 points and seven assists on 13 of 20 shooting, Duncan Robinson added 24 points on eight of 11 shooting while Ausar Thompson chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Pistons shot a sizzling 57 percent from the field and 18 of 37 from the 3-point line as they caught fire with 38 points in the second quarter to take an 11-point lead into halftime, before they dominated the second half by 59-37 to make it a complete blowout. With the game wrapped up by the third quarter, the Pistons were able to pull their starters early.

The 76ers are still missing Dominick Barlow, while the Pistons have ruled out Jalen Duren and Isaiah Joe once again. Two of the hottest teams in the league collide in what could easily be a Eastern Conference Finals preview. The 76ers have been near perfect so far this season and are coming into this one fresh off a comfortable win over the Bulls and you could say the same thing about the Pistons who just smashed the Hornets for their sixth win in seven outings. These teams last met on Oct 25 and it was the Pistons who rolled to a 106-93 victory but the 76ers were short handed for that one with Embiid and Edgecombe both out injured. It’s tempting to take the Pistons at the short line at home, but the 76ers will be out for revenge and I think they make another statement with a nice win on the road in this spot.
