The Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners will meet on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three‑game American League series at T‑Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Sunday’s contest with a 42–47 overall record (3rd in the American League East) and a 24–25 mark on the road. The Blue Jays offense has been inconsistent to this point in the season. Toronto has compiled 356 runs scored (26th in MLB), 143 doubles, a .245 team batting average and 88 home runs which ranks a rather low 23rd in Major League Baseball.

The Blue Jays arrive at tomorrow’s game in good form. Toronto has won three of the team’s last five games played this season, including a dominant 9–3 victory over the New York Mets three days ago.

Toronto will turn to right hander Trey Yesavage in this contest. In twelve starts made this season, Yesavage has compiled a 4–3 win‑loss record, a 3.34 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and 61 strikeouts, while allowing 44 hits and 30 walks in 67.1 innings pitched. Trey Yesavage has pitched well recently, allowing one or fewer earned runs in two consecutive starts made this season.

Shifting our focus to the Blue Jays offense, the Toronto lineup features third baseman Ernie Clement and first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ernie Clement has amassed a .293 batting average (14th in MLB), 22 doubles, 12 walks, 29 RBIs and a .746 OPS. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has tallied a .265 batting average, 4 home runs, 13 doubles, 37 walks, 35 RBIs and a .693 OPS.

Seattle Mariners Betting Preview

The Seattle Mariners enter Sunday’s matchup with a 46–44 overall record (1st in the American League West) and a 26–20 mark at home. Seattle has played competitive baseball recently, winning four of the team’s last five games, including an impressive 1–0 shutout victory over the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week.

Seattle will start right hander Emerson Hancock in tomorrow’s game. In sixteen starts made this season, Hancock has compiled a 5–4 record, a 3.47 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP (12th in MLB) and 87 strikeouts, while allowing 73 hits and 22 walks in 90.2 innings pitched. Hancock arrives at this contest in poor form, allowing five or more earned runs in two of his last three starts made this season.

The Seattle Mariners lineup features outfielder Julio Rodriguez and first baseman Josh Naylor. Rodriguez has amassed a .259 batting average, 14 home runs, 28 walks, 40 RBIs and a .745 OPS. Naylor has compiled a .257 batting average, 8 home runs, 11 doubles, 27 walks, 34 RBIs and a .689 OPS.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

 • Offensive upside. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement lead the Toronto Blue Jays lineup.

• Starting pitching. In twelve starts made this season, Trey Yesavage has compiled a 4–3 win‑loss record, a 3.34 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win.

 • Starting pitching advantage. Emerson Hancock has compiled a 5-4 record, a 3.47 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP which ranks 12th in Major League Baseball.

• Home field edge. Seattle has played competitive baseball (26-20) at T‑Mobile Park this season.

• Current form. The Seattle Mariners have won four of the team’s last five games.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Toronto Blue Jays staying within the number (1.5). Why? Toronto starting pitcher Trey Yesavage has pitched well recently, allowing one or fewer earned runs in two consecutive starts made this season. Conversely, Seattle hurler Emerson Hancock arrives at this contest in poor form, allowing five or more earned runs in two of his last three starts made this season. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Toronto Blue Jays plus 1.5 runs in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Toronto Blue Jays +1.5
