Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Over the weekend, the Guardians took on the Miami Marlins. Cleveland lost the first installment of that set 3-2, but came back for wins in the remaining pair 8-0 and 6-3. In the Sunday finale, Guardians starter Carlos Carrasco put up 4.2 innings with two earned on four hits.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday matchup, Cleveland will send out Triston McKenzie. This year McKenzie is 2-3 with a 4.16 ERA in 12 starts. He’s got 61 Ks in 62.2 innings. McKenzie is 20-27 with a 3.81 ERA in 80 games (76 starts).

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they took on the Chicago Cubs in their last series. Cincinnati was able to take wins in the first three games 8-4, 3-2 and 4-3. The Reds ended up falling 4-2 in the Sunday finale, though. Frankie Montas gave up four earned in 1.1 innings on five hits and three walks in the defeat.

Cincinnati will send out Brent Suter for the starting pitcher role Tuesday. Suter has a 3.86 ERA and 28 Ks without a decision so far this year.

Reds RP Emilio Pagan was placed on the 15-day Injured List Sunday due to a right lat strain.

Cleveland Guardians vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction

I’ll likely lean toward the Reds here. Much of that is due to McKenzie’s recent struggles. Over his last three starts, McKenzie has coughed up 12 earned runs in 15.1 innings total on 20 hits and eight walks. If he can’t find a good groove early in this one, Cleveland could be in trouble.

The Reds had a pretty solid weekend series versus the Cubs, scoring 17 runs in four games. If Cincinnati can bag a few scores early here they’ll be in good shape.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Cincinnati Reds +105
