The Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet on Thursday afternoon in the final game of a four game American League East series at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Boston Red Sox enter Thursday’s contest with a 64–56 overall record (3rd in the American League East) and a 35–25 mark on the road. The Red Sox offense has been productive this season. Boston has compiled 531 runs scored, 216 doubles (3rd in MLB), 121 home runs and a .248 team batting average which ranks 11th in Major League Baseball.

The Red Sox arrive at tomorrow afternoon’s game in below average form. Boston has lost five consecutive games, including a 2–1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays two days ago.

Boston will turn to left hander Payton Tolle in this game. In 19 starts made this season, Tolle has compiled a 7–6 win loss record, a 3.20 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and 124 strikeouts, while allowing 89 hits and 29 walks in 107 innings pitched. Payton Tolle arrives at this contest in good form, allowing two earned runs or fewer in five of his last six starts made in 2026.

The Boston Red Sox lineup features outfielder Wilyer Abreu and first baseman Willson Contreras. Wilyer Abreu enters this contest with a .254 batting average, 21 home runs, 24 doubles, 64 RBIs and a .793 OPS. Wilson Contreras has compiled a .280 batting average, 24 home runs (23rd in MLB), 18 doubles, 71 RBIs and a .919 OPS which ranks 19th in Major League Baseball.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Thursday afternoon’s matchup with a 59–63 overall record (4th in the American League East) and a 31–31 mark at home. Toronto has played competitive baseball recently, winning five of the team’s last six games played this season, including a thrilling 7–5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies last week.

Toronto will start right hander Max Scherzer in tomorrow’s game. In nine starts made in 2026, Scherzer has compiled a 1–4 record, a 7.25 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP and 27 strikeouts, while allowing 40 hits and 15 walks in 36 innings pitched. Scherzer has pitched at a high level recently, allowing two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts made this season.

The Blue Jays lineup features third baseman Ernie Clement and designated hitter George Springer. Ernie Clement has amassed a .282 batting average (25th in MLB), 28 doubles, 16 walks, 38 RBIs and a .719 OPS. George Springer has tallied 12 home runs, 14 doubles, 39 walks, 37 RBIs and a .712 OPS.

Why the Boston Red Sox will win.

• Offensive firepower. Wilyer Abreu and Willson Contreras continue to lead the Red Sox lineup.

• Starting pitching. In 19 starts made this season, Payton Tolle has compiled a 7–6 win loss record, a 3.20 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and 124 strikeouts in 107 innings pitched.

• Enhanced motivation. The Boston Red Sox arrive at this contest on the heels of a five-game losing streak.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

• Home field edge. Toronto has played competitive baseball (31–31) at Rogers Centre this season.

• Current form. The Toronto Blue Jays have won five of the team’s last six games.

Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Boston Red Sox. Why? Boston hurler Payton Tolle arrives at this contest in good form, allowing two earned runs or fewer in five of his last six starts made in 2026. Additionally, the Red Sox have played exceptional baseball away from home all season, amassing a 35-25 win-loss record on the road. While the Blue Jays have played well recently, the Red Sox are the better overall team. With that said, I am backing the Boston Red Sox on the moneyline in this game.
