The Miami Marlins and the San Francisco Giants square off Saturday in MLB action from Oracle Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Miami Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Miami Marlins will send out Edward Cabrera here and Cabrera is 2-6 with a 5.60 ERA and 81 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cabrera is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 18 strikeouts against San Francisco. The San Francisco Giants did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.
Miami Marlins Recap
The Miami Marlins come into this one looking to bounce back after starting the series with a 3-1 loss to the Giants in Friday’s series opener. The loss wasn’t a great start for the Fish who are trying to build on their series split with the Rockies to start the week.
Marlins Struggling Offensively
Going into Friday’s opener, Jake Burger leads the Marlins with 25 home runs and 59 RBIs along with 107 hits while Jesus Sanchez has 17 home runs and 56 RBIs with 20 doubles. Xavier Edwards also has a team-high 22 stolen bases while Burger has the dubious distinction of leading the Marlins with 123 strikeouts this season.
Why the Miami Marlins will win
- The Marlins have won each of their last six Saturday games as underdogs against the Giants.
- The Giants have lost four of their last five games as favorites against the Marlins following a win.
- The Marlins have covered the run line in 14 of their last 15 games as underdogs against the Giants following a loss.
- The Giants have failed to cover the run line in 12 of their last 13 games as favorites against the Marlins following a win.
San Francisco Giants Recap
The San Francisco Giants come into this one looking to build on their win over the Marlins from Friday’s matchup. The win put the Giants in a good spot to bounce back and snap their series losing streak after falling short against the Brewers and Mariners over the last week.
Giants Trying To Save Playoff Hopes
Entering Friday’s action, Thairo Estrada has 79 hits along with 9 home runs and 47 RBIs while also chipping in 15 doubles. Michael Conforto has 83 hits with 14 home runs, 24 doubles and 54 RBIs while Matt Chapman has 121 hits of his own alongside 32 doubles with 21 homers, 64 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 138 strikeouts this season. Heliot Ramos has 20 home runs and 65 RBIs as well this year.
Why the San Francisco Giants will win
- The Giants have won 13 of their last 14 home games against National League opponents that held a losing record.
- The Marlins have lost nine of their last 10 night games against National League opponents.
- The Giants have covered the run line in five of their last six games against National League opponents that held a losing record.
- The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last 10 night games against National League opponents.
Marlins vs. Giants Prediction
Give me the Giants here. I just can’t get on board with Edward Cabrera as he still has a bloated ERA on the road this season and the Marlins offensively are back to struggling to produce run support for their starting pitchers. It would be nice to know who the Giants are sending out here, but whoever it is, the Giants are still the better team, the more trustworthy team, and the only team with anything of consequence to fight for in this weekend series. I just can’t get there with Miami. Give me the Giants in this one.
