The Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners square off Wednesday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Detroit Tigers vs Seattle Mariners Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Detroit Tigers will send out Tarik Skubal for the start here and Skubal is 12-4 with a 2.57 ERA and 162 strikeouts this season. This will be Skubal’s second career start against Seattle. George Kirby will start for the Seattle Mariners here and is 8-7 with a 3.04 ERA and 131 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kirby is 1-2 with a 6.43 ERA and 14 strikeouts against Detroit.
Detroit Tigers Recap
The Detroit Tigers come into this one looking to build on their series-opening 4-2 win over the Mariners in Tuesday’s matchup. The win gives the Tigers a chance to snap a series losing streak which includes defeats at the hands of the Royals, Guardians and Twins over the last two weeks.
Tigers Trying To Play Spoiler
Entering Tuesday’s matchup, Riley Greene leads the Tigers with 98 hits including 17 home runs and 51 RBIs along with 21 doubles, 5 triples, a .264 batting average and a .357 OBP in addition to a team-high 109 strikeouts this season. Matt Vierling also has 92 hits as well as 5 triples while Wenceel Perez has 5 triples and a team-high 9 stolen bases. Colt Keith also has 11 home runs and 41 RBIs as well this year.
Why the Detroit Tigers will win
- The Mariners have lost seven of their last eight games as home favorites against American League opponents.
- The Tigers have won four of their last five games as underdogs against the Mariners.
- The Tigers have covered the run line in each of their last 11 road games.
- The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight night games against the Tigers at T-Mobile Park following a home loss.
Seattle Mariners Recap
The Seattle Mariners will look to rebound after a frustrating performance in Tuesday’s opener. The loss put the Mariners at risk of failing to build on their series win over the Philadelphia Phillies this past weekend if they can’t pull out a result in the final two games of the series.
Mariners Trying To Hold On Atop AL West
Going into Tuesday’s action, Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 101 hits including a .263 batting average and also has 9 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 23 home runs along with 67 RBIs and 127 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 11 home runs and 38 RBIs while Rodriguez has 18 stolen bases and 112 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has 18 doubles with 20 stolen bases and Josh Rojas has 16 doubles also this season.

- The Mariners have won 10 of their last 12 night games against AL Central opponents that held a losing record.
- The Tigers have failed to cover the run line in nine of their last 10 games against AL West opponents following a win.
- The Mariners have covered the run line in five of their last six night games against AL Central opponents following a loss.
Detroit Tigers vs Seattle Mariners Prediction
I’m on the Mariners here. Seattle didn’t look great on Tuesday as their offensive inconsistencies reared their ugly head once again, but the Mariners are still the better team as of late and the Tigers just look like they’ve run out of steam. Tarik Skubal’s probably the AL Cy Young front runner right now, but the Mariners, even when they were struggling in June, were still hitting lefties well and we’ve started to see Skubal give up more and more contact in recent outings and I think this is a spot where the Mariners could actually break through. Kirby’s had a lot more success at home at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile and I think that he does enough to guide the Mariners to a win here to even up the series. Give me Seattle in this one.
