The Chicago Cubs and the Kansas City Royals meet Sunday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Chicago Cubs vs Kansas City Royals Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Chicago Cubs will send out Javier Assad here and Assad is 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA and 81 strikeouts this season. This will be Assad’s first career start against the Royals. Chicago Cubs Recap
The Chicago Cubs will be looking to win the rubber match of this series after evening the set up at one win apiece thanks to a 9-4 win in Saturday’s matchup. A series win would be big for the Cubs to snap their series losing streak which features losses to the Diamondbacks and Brewers since the all-star break.
Cubs Trying To Get Back To .500
Cody Bellinger has 84 hits including 15 doubles, 9 home runs and 37 RBIs. Nico Hoerner has 93 hits, 20 doubles and a .251 batting average while Christopher Morel has a team-high 18 home runs and 51 RBIs. Michael Busch has 12 homers with 38 RBIs but has 116 strikeouts as well this season. Ian Happ also has a team-high 23 doubles with 16 home runs and 60 RBIs but also has 111 strikeouts this season. - The Royals have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last 10 games as home favorites against NL Central opponents.
Kansas City Royals Recap
The Kansas City Royals will be looking to win the series after falling flat in Saturday’s matchup. The loss wasn’t the best look for the Royals who are trying to bounce back from their series loss to the Diamondbacks which followed their sweep of the White Sox to kick off the second half of the season.
Royals Clinging To AL Wild Card Spot
Bobby Witt Jr. leads the Royals with 143 hits including 18 home runs, 71 RBIs and team-highs of 10 triples and 29 doubles with 23 stolen bases. Salvador Perez also has 19 home runs with 70 RBIs and 16 doubles. Maikel Garcia has 6 home runs, 45 RBIs and 23 stolen bases along with 5 triples and 16 doubles this season. - The Royals have covered the run line each of their last six day games against National League opponents that held a losing record.

Chicago Cubs vs Kansas City Royals Prediction
I’m on the Royals here. I just think the Royals are the better team and as of late, consistent offensive showings and the Chicago Cubs have not been things that have been able to be said in the same sentence. Kansas City’s the better team with something to play for here and the matchup of Ragans vs. Assad isn’t as close as Lugo vs. Imanaga from Saturday’s matchup. Give me the Royals for the series win here.
