The Baltimore Orioles face the New York Yankees on Thursday, April 28th, 2022 at Yankee Stadium for game three of a three-game series.
The New York Yankees continued their winning ways with another victory over their AL East opponents in the Orioles with a 5-2 final score on Wednesday night. The Yankees have now taken the first two games of this series (while covering the run-line in both games) and are now on a five-game win streak, giving them the division lead in the AL East. The Yankees are 12-6 and the offense is starting to come alive as the Bombers have scored at least five runs in their last four games. The Orioles fell to 6-12 on the year with the loss and the O's have now suffered three straight losses, keeping them in fifth place in the AL East divisional standings. The O's will look to snap this losing streak and salvage the final game of this three-game set.
The Baltimore Orioles are projected to bring left-hander Bruce Zimmermann to the mound to take on the Yankees. Zimmermann is 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in his first 15.0 innings of the season with the Orioles. Zimmermann pitched well against this Yankees' lineup at Camden Yards a few weeks back in which Baltimore went on to win 5-0.
The New York Yankees are set to bring right-hander Jameson Taillon to the bump for game three of this series. Taillon is 1-1 with a 3.07 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in his first 14.2 innings of the year with the Yanks. Taillon has had some issues with the long ball this year as he has already allowed three home runs in his first three outings of the season. Taillon will look to keep the struggling Orioles bats down on Thursday.
I think this is the game the Orioles had the best chance of winning going into the series when you look at this pitching matchup. I do not see Taillon as a -250 pitcher, and I think the O's have some value here. I will take Baltimore on the run-line getting the 1.5 runs.
