It’s a lighter slate of games across the MLB on Thursday, but there is still plenty of value across the board in terms of MLB picks. Let’s take a look at the best MLB picks to make your Thursday a winning one.
New York Mets at Miami Marlins
The New York Mets send Rich Hill to the mound and he hasn’t been lights out as of late. In Hill’s last start he went five innings giving up five hits and four runs. The Marlins offense isn’t great, but they are going to do enough in this game to get the job done against the Mets. Back the Marlins on the money line.
Play: Marlins ML
Boston Red Sox -121 at Detroit Tigers +111 Total: 9.5
The Detroit Tigers are going to pull off the upset in this game. Martin Perez gets the start for the Boston Red Sox and he hasn’t been trustworthy as of late. The TIgers offense will find offensive success and win this game on the money line. This would be a game worth looking at on the reverse run line.
Play: Tigers ML
Los Angeles Angels -120 at Texas Rangers +100 Total: 9.5
There are going to be plenty of runs scored in this game. Getting the start for the Angels is Dylan Bundy and he has an ERA of 6.66. I don’t really trust the Angels to win tihs game, but I do trust this game is going to go over the total.
Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies
At this point, it looks like the Chicago Cubs have given up on this season and they aren’t going to magically snap out of it in this game. The Rockies play a lot better at home, and their offense is going to find success in this game. Back the Rockies on the run line.
Play: Rockies -1.5
San Francisco Giants -175 at Arizona Diamondbacks +155 Total: 9.5
This is a perfect chance to take the Arizona Diamondbacks to pull off the upset. Alex Wood gets the start for the Giants and in his last game against the Astros, he went five innings giving up six hits and five runs. Look for the Giants to run up the score Look for the D-Backs to find success in this game and Arizona will win this game.
Play: D-Backs ML +155
Philadelphia Phillies -181 at Washington Nationals +140 Total: 8.5
The Washington Nationals were big sellers at the trade deadline, and over their last ten games, they only have three wins. Aaron Nola has been inconsistent for the Phillies and I don’t trust him in this game. Joe Ross is going to find enough success to keep the Nationals in this game, and Washington will win this game.
Play: Nationals ML
Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees
Nestor Cortes is expected to get the start for the Yankees and that is bad news for the New York Yankees. Cortes comes into this game with an ERA of 1.93 and the Mariners are going to really struggle to score against him in this game. Look for the Yankees to have no issues winning this game on the run line.
Play: Yankees -1.5
Cleveland Indians +180 at Toronto Blue Jays -198 Total: 10
Triston McKenzie hasn’t been good this season for the Cleveland Indians and the Toronto Blue Jays offense is going to take advantage. Look for the Blue Jays to score early, and that will lead to the favorite winning this game on the run line.
Play: Blue Jays -1.5
Pittsburgh Pirates +180 at Cincinnati Reds -220 Total: 9
Sonny Gray is coming off a strong start in his last game, but outside of that, he has really struggled as of late. Wil Crowe is also a pitcher who has been ultra inconsistent, and there is going to be plenty of scoring by both teams in this game. Back the over to cash.
Kansas City Royals +170 at Chicago White Sox -189 Total: 9.5
There are a lot better games on the card on Thursday. I really don’t trust either pitcher, but both have been so inconsistent, I can't really trust them to be bad either for an over. It’s a lean for the Royals to score enough runs to win this game, but if you bet it, bet it small.
Play: Royals ML
Minnesota Twins +215 at Houston Astros -260 Total: 9
Griffin Jax isn’t getting enough attention for what he has done this year. In his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals, he went five innings giving up two hits and one run. The Twins have shown a little fight since the trade deadline, and they are going to pull the upset. Back the over to cash.
Atlanta Braves -105 at St. Louis Cardinals -115 Total: 9
The St. Louis Cardinals offense hasn’t been great this season, but they are going to find their success against Touki Toussaint who has had some issues this season. The Cardinals are going to use their offense to get the job done, and come away with the victory.
Play: St. Louis Cardinals
