Ohio vs Miami-OH Prediction

I’ll stay with Ohio. This should be a pretty good matchup overall though. The Bobcats didn’t look great in their last game versus Akron, but still got the victory. Ohio mustered just 12 first downs and a 3-of-9 success rate on third downs in that one, holding the ball for only 24:14 of game time. The eight penalties for 88 yards didn’t help either. Ohio gave up 26 first downs and 392 yards on defense but did have a couple of takeaways and a decent 5-of-12 allowed on third downs. The Bobcats have been looking good over this six-game win streak, especially on defense. Ohio has given up fewer than 21 points in all six of those outings.

As for Miami-OH, they took a tough overtime loss to a pretty good Buffalo team in their last outing. The RedHawks played a sloppy game, committing 13 penalties for 104 yards. The offense posted 350 total yards and 23 first downs but didn’t do super well on third-down tries (5-of-15). Miami-OH has 28 or more points in three straight games and they’re 3-1 in their last four. It’s going to be tough to move the ball against Ohio’s defense though.

Ohio Bobcats Betting Preview

Since opening up the season on a rocky 1-2 run, the Bobcats have been playing great. Ohio fell to Nebraska and South Alabama (with a win over Jacksonville State in quadruple overtime) during those first three games. Since then it’s been wins over Stonehill, Kent State, Central Michgian, Sacramento State, Eastern Michgian and Akron. That gives Ohio a 7-2 overall record through nine games this year.

In the matchup versus Akron last Tuesday the Bobcats gave up a few field goals in the first three quarters and went into the fourth with a 14-9 advantage. Ohio trailed briefly 17-14 but eventually found their stride and won 28-17. QB Nick Poulos was 12-of-20 for 197 yards and a TD. Duncan Brune added 10 carries for 111 yards and a score as the leading rusher and Dom Dorwart had four catches for 108 yards and a TD.

Miami-Ohio RedHawks Betting Preview

Over on the Miami-OH side, they’ve had their ups and downs this season but they’re still above the .500 mark. The RedHawks opened on a shaky 2-3 run with wins over Holy Cross and UConn mixed among losses to Pitt, Cincinnati and Bowling Green. After wins over UMass, Akron and Central Michigan, Miami-Ohio fell to Buffalo in overtime last week. That gives the team a 5-4 record at the nine-game mark this year.

Matched up against Buffalo last Tuesday, the RedHawks gave up a pair of unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter, blowing a 31-16 lead and eventually losing 34-31 in overtime. Miami-OH’s Caleb Heavner was 12-of-23 passing for 154 yards and a score in the defeat.
