UConn Huskies Betting Preview
The Huskies took a defeat in their fifth game of the season against Arizona on November 19, then hit an excellent string of victories. Wins versus Bryant, Illinois, Kansas, East Texas A&M, Florida, Texas, Butler, DePaul, Xavier, Marquette, Providence, DePaul, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Villanova, Providence and Creighton came in succession after that. Across the first 22 games of the season, UConn produced a 21-1 overall run.
On Tuesday in game 23 versus Xavier, the Huskies were looking great after the first half, walking off the floor with a 50-22 advantage. UConn kept it going in the second on a 42-38 run and took the blowout victory on their home court 92-60 in the end. Silas Demary was the top scorer with 17 points, eight assists and four rebounds while Tarris Reed had 14 points with eight boards. Eric Reibe chipped in 14 points with seven rebounds as well.
St. John’s Red Storm Betting Preview
Over on the St. John’s side, they opened up their year on a rough 4-3 run. The defeats during that time were versus Alabama, Iowa State and Auburn. St. John’s would hit a 5-1 run in six games after that, falling to Kentucky alongside wins over Ole Miss, Iona, DePaul, Harvard and Georgetown. After that came a loss to Providence, then another string of wins to give the Red Storm a 16-5 record in their first 21 outings.
Matched up against DePaul on Tuesday the Storm were nursing a tiny lead 29-28 by the end of the first half. St. John’s posted a 39-28 stretch from there, eventually bagging a 68-56 win as the game concluded. Tops in scoring was Zuby Ejiofor with 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Bryce Hopkins added 15 points with six boards and Oziyah Sellers had 13 points with four rebounds.

UConn vs St. John’s Prediction
I’ll lean toward UConn in this one. The Huskies put on a show in their win over Xavier this week, posting a very nice 56.7 percent shooting from the field with 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the line and a 45-20 advantage in the paint alongside a 37-23 advantage on the boards. UConn gave up just 36.7 percent shooting on the other side in a dominant home effort. The Huskies have scored 85 or more points in three straight games now.
As for Saint John’s, they didn’t shoot great in their win over DePaul with just 35 percent from the floor alongside a 33-30 rebounding deficit. The good news is that the Storm held the Blue Demons to just 34.6 percent shooting on the other side and 25 percent (5-of-20) from 3-point range in the road victory. That makes eight straight wins for St. John’s, with 84 or more points scored in six of those. This will be the Storm’s toughest game of the year so far, though.
