Over on the Idaho side, they had a similar run over their first five games this year. The Vandals also went 3-2 in that time with a couple of fairly close finishes. The Vandals opened with consecutive wins over Washington State and Whitman, then lost consecutive games versus San Diego and UC San Diego. Game five was another win however, as Idaho dispatched Eastern Oregon to jump above the .500 mark once again.

Biko Johnson was the leading scorer with 23 points, six boards and three assists. The Vandals didn’t shoot all that well in their latest win over CSU Northridge, hitting just 36.7 percent from the floor with a 34-18 deficit on points in the paint. Idaho was competitive on the boards though, and did well from the line (22-of-27 for 81.5 percent). That makes 74 or more points in all but one game so far this year for the Vandals.

As for Sam Houston, they hit 45 percent from the field and had a dominant 31-17 rebounding edge on Idaho State in their latest win. The Bearkats have hit 77 or more points in every game this year, so we may well have a big total in this one. Idaho will have to push to keep pace but I think they can do it.
