Queens Royals Betting Preview

The Royals kicked off the year on a pretty ugly run, but they’ve been able to right the proverbial ship since then. Queens went just 3-5 over their first eight games this season, beating only Lynchburg, Western Carolina, and South Carolina Upstate in that time. Otherwise, it was losses to Utah, BYU, App State, East Tennessee State, and Winthrop. Since then Queens has won six of the last seven games. The lone loss was to Ole Miss. Otherwise, it was victories over VMI, Carolina University, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Stetson, and Florida Gulf Coast, resulting in a 9-6 record through 15 games so far this season.

In the Florida Gulf Coast matchup on Saturday, the Royals came out of halftime looking at a nice 51-39 advantage on the scoreboard. Queens was able to keep a pretty good pace after that on a 44-41 run and took the win in the end 92-83. Leading the team along the way was Leo Colimerio with 35 points and three rebounds. Jaxon Pollard came off the bench to provide 13 points with five rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Bryce Cash added 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Malcolm Wilson had 10 points and seven boards.

Lipscomb Bisons Betting Preview

Over on the Bisons’ side, they also hit the skids to start out the year, but similarly have gotten much better as of late. Lipscomb won just two of their first six games over Duquesne and Wofford. Otherwise, it was losses to Arkansas, Belmont, and Western Kentucky in a pretty tough opening run. Since then the Bisons have dispatched Jackson State, Alabama A&M, Chattanooga, Southeast Missouri State, Truett-McConnell, Asbury, Jacksonville, and North Florida with a lone loss to Middle Tennessee otherwise, resulting in a 10-5 record so far.

In the North Florida game over the weekend, the Bisons held a 51-33 advantage by halftime. Lipscomb finished off on a 45-31 stretch for a blowout win in the end 96-64. Topping the team in scoring was Jacob Ognacevic with 21 points, five rebounds and three assists. Dylan Faulkner managed 19 points with five rebounds and four assists, while Will Pruitt tripled up in a great effort on 11 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds in 30 minutes of work on the floor.

I’m likely going with Lipscomb. The Bisons demolished a middling North Florida team in their last outing thanks to a nice 54.1 percent shooting, 22-of-29 (75.9 percent) from the line, and 41-34 as an advantage in rebounding. That makes three straight wins for Lipscomb, who has scored 70 or more points in eight of the last nine games (all eight were victories).

As for Queens, they looked good against Florida Gulf Coast in their last matchup. The Royals shot 51.7 percent from the field in that one with a 37-30 rebounding edge but did post 12 turnovers for 15 Eagles points. Queens has now won six of the last seven games, posting 73 or more points in each win during that time. If both teams can keep their respective offenses rolling in this one, we’ll have quite an entertaining and high-scoring finish. In the end, I like Lipscomb to eke one out, but the Royals should be able to make things interesting in the meantime.
